Thank you and so pleased you felt there was an atmosphere. All I was aware of at the time was the temperature: minus 3 degrees centigrade!!

It does look cold! But I suppose it's that biting winter light that gives it its atmosphere.

We certainly have history and some of the architecture from medieval times is amazing: incredible that there was the knowledge to create such intricate buildings which have stood the test of our British weather.

O yes it is true. There is many architectural landmarks with very original character. Starting from Stonehenge, than even in Roman times in England was specific....But glory started there with Medieval architecture ( Anglo-Saxon, Gotic...but I think that Tudor style is the most representative for England...Times gone, fire was in London too....but stone is for ever. And I like stone-natural, strong and nice natural material.

I too love stone: as you say it is forever and is the best insulation. I wish I lived in a stone cottage with 3 metre thick walls which keep out the heat of summer and the cold of winter.

today it is the most expensive way to masonry stone-in the past it was routine any castle or cottage. Today people forgot on natural materials how thay are healthy, durable...yes you have right so much safety and comfort can give stone wall...One our famoust architect in the past times was told to his students " Dont built only with concrete, synthetics....man is neither an ant nor a bee to live in some inhuman shells community..."

Me too; It seems incredible to stand within such ruins and think that they have been standing there for many centuries. Even though I love ruins, I just wish I could have seen them in all their former glory.

Beautiful area isn't it ... we are more familiar with the Moors than Dales but in the snow both were incredible. We had a great couple of days exploring Dales and Moors in very interesting driving conditions!!

Thank you - just fortunate that I happened to be there at the right time for the afternoon winter sun to fall on the ruins. I too love ruins; I much prefer them to stately homes which are full of antique furniture!

I too have managed to get shots just by chance.
I love stately homes, everything inside is so rich with history.
Ruins are too.
It's nice you enjoy them, you certainly shot well.
