Son of Laya and a random male of unknown origin, Mate to Khike, Father of Dume

He is an African Lion with no mutations. He is pretty big for a former Outlander, standing at almost 4 feet at the shoulder. He is big and he is powerful, he probably weighs well into the 500 lbs range. He is a little older than his Mate Khike and is about 9 years old.

Born in the Wastelands outside of the Utatu region, Kiume was raised by a single mother with no father in his life. He was his mother's only cub, as she was young when she had him and didn't know what she was doing. She was kicked out of her native pride because she had broken their rules regarding relationships and reproduction at such a young age. So she raised Kiume on her own, the two of them growing as vagabonds and merceneries and such.

Kiume's mother Laya was killed a few years ago, when a rogue male tried to mate with her and Kiume, a young teenager at the time, misunderstood his intentions and attacked him. The rogue got pissed and went after the young male, but his mother got between them, not really interested in mating but more importantly she was absolutely NOT about to let some random guy hurt her son. Unfortunately, this ended in her death.

Though his mother did her best to protect him throughout his life, when he fought that rogue male, the male ended up absolutely destroying the young lion's shoulder. Broken and in pain and losing blood in a hurry, he was able to stumble away from the male (who came out of this almost unharmed), but only just barely made it to the edge of the Foxfire Swampland before collapsing.

Though his life was saved by the pride's shaman and healers, at the end of the day, Kiume came away permanently maimed. He joined the pride under the rank of Guardian but he was not very good at it. His shoulder pained him and he limps, almost crawling sometimes, moreso than walking. But he is still big and intimidating so he is mostly tasked with guarding locations (that way he does not have to walk so much) or, more often than not, training and educating the pride cubs about survival techniques and what to do if stranded in the Wastelands and such.

As he recovered, he started "guarding" one of the young females in the pride. He has a lot of respect for powerful women, having always looked up to his mom for what she was able to do with him. So when he saw that same powerful, tenacious determination in the lioness Khike, he was absolutely smitten with her. Whether or not she loved him back is debatable, but she certainly played the part, insisting they have cubs together right away. Kiume was still young so he was a little intimidated by the prospect of raising children but Khike was insistent.

After years of trying, they finally had Dume, their first and only little girl. Kiume is absolutely obsessed with his daughter. She has that same fire that he used to see in his mother and he fell in love with that demeanor. He always encourages her to try her best and to never give up, he showed her things about surviving and being smart when it comes to hunting and things, and he is more gentle and encouraging and engaging than her mother is. So Dume spends much more time with her father than her mother and learns much more practical things from him, such as what is safe to eat or where to find water during the dry season. Stuff like that.

He lives a mostly sedentary life at this point, pretty much sticking to the densite thanks to his bum shoulder. He regrets not being there for Dume more often, that he could not play tag with her or explore with her or really keep up with her really at all. He thinks he is a terrible father for this. But Dume loves him to death and they sleep curled around each other every night. They both snore and it's obnxious.

Kiume is a big lion but a total sweetheart. He is kind and generous and somewhat soft-spoken, preferring to listen to the problems of others than to waste time worrying about his own. He is very chill and relaxed to the point of being an absolute doormat, but if there is one thing he does stand up for it's his daughter. He is absolutely overjoyed to have a daughter and he will not hesitate to do anything to keep her safe and happy. He always comes to her defense when she is being bullied, but he also tries to encourage her to socialize with and hang out with the other cubs in the pride. She is often on her own and he has lots of anxiety so he's constantly trying to find someone to help keep an eye on her. He does not get along with his "mate" Khike, to the point that they do not even share a den anymore, so she is no help in this area. His father-in-law Kiasi also tries to pitch in and help but he too is slowing down with age and injury, so Kiume half asked and half bribed his friend and pridemate Badilika to keep an eye on his precious baby girl. Badilika, for all of his credit, agreed to do so.

There is some rumors on the wind that Dume is not Kiume's daughter, that she was sired by another male. She does not look like him hardly at all, taking most of her features from her mother and her side of the family. But it is also true that Khike and Kiume had many cubs before Dume and they were all exclusively male. So while some pride members like to tease and mock both Kiume and his daughter for this terrible unfounded reason, Kiume has shockingly thick skin. He loves his Lil' Asskicker, whether she is blood or not, she is his daughter and he would die for her, end of discussion.

He's a bit of a night owl, sleeping until late into the afternoon on most days, only to then stay up until the sun comes up again. Some call him lazy because of this, always sleeping through breakfast. But he does not sleep more than anyone else his age, it's just the timing that is different. When he is awake, he has plenty of enthusiasm and energy, it's just usually night time by this point.

Voice Actor is Gildart Jackson , complete with accent. Dume has an accent too, just because she spends most of her time with her father. But they are both slowly losing it more and more over time. Kiume is embarrassed about it, feeling like it labels him as an outsider because he speaks so differently. He likes to blend in, to not stir the pot too much, so he is constantly trying to minimize it. Dume, on the other hand, loves their accent, she thinks it makes them special. It's a better way to think about it.
