Description
This is the batman : Fly with some more work. . . I thought the original was tentative. . . but it's always to do too li'l than do too muchStill, I'm pretty happy with it ( overall ) . . . less real more abstract. .. and it combines the two visions I have of the batman. . . one of terror and one of salvation

Heβs the Rorschach test of comics. . . Heβs a costume clown in the 1966's Tee Vee series. . . heβs Millerβs Dark Knight fascist. . . Heβs Neal Adamβs 007. . . Heβs Marshall Rogers cool breeze. . .Jim Aparoβs intelligence. . . He embraces Chris Nolanβs complexity. . . Tim Burtonβs neuroses. . . William Dozierβs Pop Camp . . .

lol I'm a smoker too. Go smokers! And thanks ^^
Your avatar still disturbs me despite the fact I've seen it a million times.
I think fear is one of the most interesting things to try to express through art. You do it so well, I'm always excited when I see another piece from you in my watch messages. ^^

Tee Hee. . . I thought your avatar is more terrifying ( since we are yapping about avatars ) .
The casual lines leave a false sense of assurance. . . which makes it inviting. . . pretty deceptive ( tee hee ). . . once you are caught in the trap. . . you stare and pretty soon the image begins to stare back atcha. . .
. . . and you know the olβ saying βbout "staring into the abyss "
Fear is so cooooool ( I donβt know why. . . but it seems that singular, 2-dimensional work has a more everlasting impact than motion pictures. . .a lotta the surrealist stuff frightens me a hell lot more than some Silent Hill flick. . . that is just me)
Gotta go out for a smoke ( Iβm hopeless )

I think it's the lack of a story, a lack of explaination that leaves you with a sense of not knowing (for lack of a better word) that separates the horror of a movie to the fear in a work of art. Also, I think in a work of art, you don't need the sounds that a movie will provide to feel that fear the way a painting or drawing can.
Also, motion pictures generally don't try to express the fear in the same ways art does. A master (like yourself) can instill the emotion or state through the manipulation of color and shape, and still leave room for a viewer's own interpretation.
Movies often fill in those gaps that art leaves open, and I think that gaps are a pivotal part of fear.

Outstanding observation. . . !!
Yeh. . . I think fear is an instant. . . And perhaps two-dimensional stuff is more suited to capture that moment. . .
And yes. . . I agree that more expressive abstract works tends to create an interactive role . . . an interplay between artist and participate. . .
Canβt really think of a film that scared the living shit outta me. . . only scenes.

Agreed.
Besides, movies as a whole are predictable. ^^
But, yeah, that's generally why I love your art, if you were wondering. Your expressions of fear and terror are perfect, at least in my eyes ^^
