Description At long last!Β

If anyone's ever wanted to know how I animate Pokemon Sprites in the 5th Generation style, this is a step-by-step tutorial that goes through the whole process.Β

I could have spent more time to make the tutorial a lot more organized and aesthetically pleasing, but this one gets the job done, and I wanted to get it out as soon as possible.

If you animate a sprite using this tutorial, link it to me! I'd love to see it!

It would probably be easier and more efficient but I'm so used to using Paint.NET

How would you make a head move? For example, your Rowlet sprite's head turns. What would you do if you wanted to achieve something similar to that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Snivy101 In reply to yashu204 [2016-11-14 01:07:01 +0000 UTC]

That's something that I do by hand in MS Paint or Paint.net

I hope this rough explanation helps a little

Hey can you help me plz ? After I made my sprite animation and uploaded it on deviantart it looks blurry ! How can I fix this problem ?Β Β
Here's the animation

It's nice animation! But it doesn't look blurry at all for me. It may seem silly, but I think your window is zoomed in or out, which will distort the sprite and make it look blurry. Make sure you're zoomed in 100% in your browser. If that's not it, could you send me a screenshot of it blurry?

sta.sh/01notcxbrvz0 <---- Here's it ! Strangely it's not blurry when I see it in someoneΒ Β  but when I go in my page and try to click it, it's like in the stash ! Even when I try to resubmit it, it looks perfect in the pre-view but when submitted it's blurry !
I controlled the frames and it seems perfect !

Really? that's weird. I did look at your screenshot though and the Deviation icon on "Newest Deviations," and it's the exact same quality as when I view one at 110% zoom, so I really do think zoom is the problem. Have you tried zooming out to 100%? I could still be wrong though xD

I want to get the back sprites done first. After that, I'll try some animation. I will definitely not animate all my sprites. Maybe just my Mewtwo sprites, front and back. Then, I'll decide if I'll animate the rest. It'll be tenacious though. X_X

There's no way I'll be able to animate all of my Fakemon's sprites either. Still, it's always awesome to see them!

Great tutorial! The way you put it, it seems so simple! (I'm sure it's not )

Snivy101 In reply to Albond-Art [2016-07-04 16:29:34 +0000 UTC]

It is actually! Learning it is the difficult part, but it really isn't terribly difficult. The difficult parts are smoothing the frames if you choose to and filling in the holes. The hole filling isn't really too hard either. Practice makes perfect but thank you very much!
