do you use the burn n dodge tool to highlight/shadow the horses body? i really like it <3 my biggest problem on mane and tails are.. well, everything. but im having a tough time shaping my manes and tails, im polly stupid tho lol i just get it to work even tho i have CS5 and wacom bamboo tablet. also i have trouble with the hair tips ( the end) their alway bulky even at 1px.. someone said to lower the size to 0.07 or something, but photoshop wont let me go lower then 1.. help?

what I do for the body highlights is i create a new layer, set it to soft light and then use just plain old white and black for the highlighting and shadowing. (and no you're not stupid, it took me years and years and YEARS to get to this state)
As for the mane/tail issue, what type of brush are you using in CS5?

One question though, when doing the tail, do you take off the entire original tail before you start working on drawing your own tail, or do you just leave the top of the tail there (like in the images in this tutorial), and draw over the top of it? Haha, sorry if that was confusing! Thanks!

definitely leave a little bit of the tail if not all of the tail in tact so you can get the lighting and realisticness of it.
