EDIT: Finally added some whiskers to these guys because thatβs been bugging me for years XDSo this is a follow up from the brilliantly talented works of DJ88 Β
I share most of her same views on this topic, so if you'd like to read that explanation, I'd read the description under her beautiful piece.
Anyways, basically I added Lion Guard Simba to the mix. He doesn't look as bad as I originally thought he would. But those eyes are huge. O-O
I tried to follow the styles from each individual movie the best I could, I hope it turned out ok.

I really hate all the ugly colors from Simba's pride. It's ruin everything.
Why... why it has to be darker.. Why can't they just use the original great color from the first movie. The first one is just so perfect!!!!

The second movie was led by a team of different animators I believe. While it could've been more accurate, they probably tried to improve the original design but failing miserably.

I have mixed views towards Original Simba, but I do like SP Simba in body shape wise. Β They pretty much combined Original and SP together with O. Simba's jaw and nose, as well as SP Simba's dullish or dull yellowish shade. Β I do have to agree with you on the eyes! Β They made his eyes too big! XD. I guess they watched too much cartoons with ultra huge eyes!

I've heard a few people say they like Simba's Pride Simba, which I can see, I've just seen Original Simba first(when I was a kid) so his design has stuck with me.

I'm glad they kept Nala's Movie 1 colors though. Β Although I've seen SP more than the first one, I never liked her SP colors.

I really hate Simba's TLG version, those big eyes including his eyeshadows are way too big. And his eyebrows of course if you compare it to the original. And his mane are way to short, he looks like a totally different lion.
And much smaller also.

The only good thing I thought they did right was that his colors matched a little better. Other than that, it's not good.

My gosh I really hate Simba's design in The Lion Guard! Disney Junior kinda screw their designs because it's for younger kids but I don't want his design today!!!!

They tried to make it more suited for kids, and although the design would be good standing alone(in my opinion), we have Original Simba. It's pretty hard to beat him.

i always liked the original one, call me ovbious, but actually i loved simba on the sketches, with that long face and messy mane, and in the original movie sometimes he looks almost like it.
