Description
Looks like Smacky has been a little lazy lately, but I haven't; this was my self-inflicted 'final exam' for utilizing linked smart layers to create a completely editable postworked image. Although I've used linked assets in After Effects before, I never really thought to use them in Photoshop too.Although it wasn't particularly necessary for this image, what all of that basically means is that just about every bit of postwork and color correction here is layered and can be changed even at this "finished" stage. This is actually three separate documents linked to each other, and editing the raw render will update the other two postworked ones. Later if I want to try changing Smacky's expression or placing another object into the scene, it can be done without too much trouble. I really wish I had been able to do this on images like And Stay Down or my Serpent Slayer renders so I could go back and improve them now, but at least I'll be able to do it for big future pics.
Another neat thing about this method is that it allows for simple animations even after the image has been postworked to death. Rather than attempting to repeat all the color corrections and other edits I do for multiple frames of an animation (which would be absolutely impossible anyway), I only have to drop them into that first raw render document and edit the masks in the other two. That's something I'd like to try one day...
Rendered in DAZ Studio 4.7, tons of work in Photoshop CC. 46 layers across three images, 28 of those layers are for color correction. Basic pose and scene by Danie and Marfono, I wanted to spend more time postworking than posing. Thanks very much for taking a look!

Sorry, are you asking if there are any animations or movies of this character? I only have the little chibi animation I made with Meago. Thanks for taking a look!

Her gaze is impressive here. 3D (in general) don't always make the most expressive eyes, but you did great with this one !

Thanks! 3D figures do look more expressive when their eyes are larger (or looking up), I just added that little white highlight dot and it turned out OK without too much planning.

Looks great! All the objects are so nicely textured and detailed, and I like the pose and facial expression.

Thanks very much! It was a good learning experience and practice for the overly difficult action pic I'm working on now.

Thanks very much! I didn't think that expression was all that great, so I'm glad it still was fitting.

I imagine that she's in some Demon Wench Empress's palace. "You can put makeup on a Truvarian hog but it's still a hog, darlin'". The Demon Wench suddenly turns from having her evil nose powdered to see Smacky laying cavalier on her favorite lounge chair. "Smacky! Guards!" Screams the wench. "They're already split, cut, sliced, or altogether no available right now. But don't worry, you'll join em' soon enough." Smacky said with the biggest smile.

LOL, I always enjoy it when viewers are able to imagine a story to fit an image of mine. Thanks very much, I'm glad you like Smacky!

I just saw this on your FB page. Looks even better in the bigger format. I wish I could replicate your 'painted' style. I love it.

Ah, thanks a lot for taking a look at it here too! This style really isn't something I can explain; it's a ton of masked color correction layers and a couple of very light paper texture overlays. The most important thing I can recommend is to mask as many separate areas as possible for individual color adjustments because you won't be able to get a good look with one overall adjustment for the whole scene.

46 layers?!?!?! *Faints* Seriously...probably one of the best pieces you have ever done. I'm going to study the image a bit more...but needless to say, I'm blown away. (*46 layers? Van Damn man....)

Haha, there are actually only a handful of actual 'image' layers; 7 of them are fae, there's two or three "fix" layers where I edited the afro and horribly distorted gold cape, a light beam layer, etc. The 28 color correction layers are what really change the original render into this. There are Hue/Saturation and Brightness layers for each part (like afro, skin, cloth, floor, walls, the gold, etc) so I can fine-tune everything...I kinda go nuts with color correction, but that's pretty much how I get this look. Thanks very much!
