Back story
Azarys was born in the 4E 164 in Raven Rock, Solstheim. As a kid, he always looked up to his older brother, Vallion, and tried to be like him in every possible way. Vallion would take him to various places on Solstheim and they were inseparable. However, their parents forbade them to go out so far away from home, and Azarys would usually obey them, even when Vallion sneaked out to play.
When he was at the age of 9, his brother went out one day and never came back. The whole family was devastated and search patrols were organised, but no clue of him. Years later, even when everybody else lost hope they'd ever see Vallion again, Azarys kept dreaming about traveling and finding his brother and he refused to accept that he is dead.
Azarys turned out to be quite skilled with weaponry, especially with two handed weapons. Because of his newfound love for swordsmanship, he started hanging out around the Redoran Guards in Raven Rock, especially Captain Veleth (and annoying the hell out of him), wanting to learn combat from some of the most skilled of the Redoran guards. It took a few years to convince him, but Captain Veleth did let Azarys to be trained by his men, and after years of practice to even join them.
Azarys has been working as a guard in Raven Rock. Despite having a strong loyalty to his hometown and Captain Veleth, he kept dreaming about leaving his home and searching for his brother.
Inspired by the last Dragonborn when they defeated Miraak and freed Solstheim, Azarys decided to finally go an adventure to search for his brother, after which he has been wandering Skyrim and Cyrodiil, taking jobs from people and discovering the world he hasn't seen before.

Personality
As he looks up to his brother Vallion, Azarys really tries to be like him in any possible way. He isn't naturally positive and optimistic like his brother, but in fact he is gloomy and quite easily loses the good mood, thinking that luck would turn her back on him at any moment. Trying to consciously wipe out negativity, he attempts to laugh even when feeling bad, but instead makes really creepy expressions.
Growing up among the Dunmer, he always has a certain level of distrust towards foreigner. However, if they remind him of his brother in any way, he'll gain trust in them way too easily. He used to blindly trust his brother, and parts of that followed him until this very day. This is why he gets played over and scammed often.
Azarys takes things to heart - other people's opinions are important to him. He easily loses confidence if he gets criticized over something. This might be one of the many reasons why he is such a hardworking person - well, rather, why he's so hardworking around things he finds dear, like his combat skills and job as a guard. Another reason would be his never ending motivation to find his brother.
Still, he has a certain charm that comes from his overall humbleness and always good intent which he greets people with. He'd gladly offer help even if he's not asked or expected to, and knows how to be gentle with those who need it.
When angry, he tends to make loud sounds and shout a lot, but never attacks first. However, he always returns with fierce counterattacks if the other person decides to throw the first punch. He feels very protective and patriotic - probably too much for his own good - towards his race and Morrowind, even though he has never been on Morrowind`s land. The easiest way to make him rage is to instult the Dunmer and their culture, which is the only time when he would not hesitate to start a fight first.
***************
Interests and everyday routines
His daily routine consists of patrolling around Raven Rock (usually at the docks where he looks over the ships), or practicing with his sword whenever he's not on duty. Even when he is patrolling the town, you might see him swing his sword through air if there is not many people around.
His parents own a little house at the end of Raven Rock, where Azarys and Vallion grew up, but ever since he became a Redoran guard he has been staying in the guard's sleeping halls.
As a child, he used to be a great book lover, he'd spend hours reading books or listening to his brother or parents reading them. Since he has been out of Solstheim only once or twice, he is curious to see the rest of the world, and books were always a nice way to spark your imagination. However, when Vallion went missing, Azarys got so obsessed with finding him and practicing two-handed skill that he almost forgot the love for reading he used to have. At that moment, he'd feel like he's wasting time if he's not practicing.
***************
Skills and combat style
Like the Dunmer in general, he's skilled with magic, especially flames, but rarely uses it. Instead, he is very talented with the greatswords and always uses them in combat (an enchanted Elven Greatsword, although he can use any two-handed weapon if the situation asks for it) and wears heavy armour (Bonemold armour). He has an advantage of being both strong and fast, so his blows can be quick and destructive. His block isn't as good though, and legs are his weakest spot.
Other than two-handed skill, he is good with archery as well, if needed. He's not as interested in archery, but since it's a required skill and also very useful, he practices it alongside with two-handed.

Relationships with other characters
Alvouse Aradvani
(another OC of mine)
Alvouse is Azarys` father. The two get along quite well, always have, and especially in the last couple of years. When Azarys was a child, he didn't spend as much time with his father, sbecause he'd always stick with Vallion. However, after Vallion`s disappearance and a bit of alienated relationship with his mother, he turned to his father. Alvouse became overprotective of his son in the last few years, ever since his wife/Azarys` mother went on her mysterious journey - he feels like his son is everything that was left of their family. This sometimes annoys Azarys, claiming that his father treats him like a little princess instead of a grown up warrior. Another thing that annoys him is the fact that Alvouse would never let him leave home to search for Vallion, as he doesn't want to lose even the last family member he has left.
Vallion Aradvani / Stholec Durmstratz
(another OC of mine)
Vallion is Azarys` older brother. As children, they were completely inseparable, exploring out in the wilds of Solstheim even when their parents forbade them to do so. Quite often they'd fall asleep in the same bed after reading books together (Azarys couldn't read back then, while Vallion could but just barely - he'd sometimes come up with all kinds of stories knowing that his little brother couldn't know that what he told him wasn't written in the book). Azarys was so inspired by his brother - but everything changed when his brother disappeared. He was sad and lonely without him, but he never accepted that his brother might be dead, and swore to find him one day.
Torone
(another OC of mine)
Torone is Azarys` mother. As a kid, Azarys and Vallion would often spend so much time with her, in fact more than with their father. She was a courageous, positive, daring but also extremely caring mother, although a bit crazy - this is something she has in common with her older son, so Azarys found her inspiring the same way he found Vallion inspiring. However, after Vallion`s disappearance, she changed. While she was the only one who has never told him that his brother is dead, she became distant to both him and his father, always doing something and thinking about who knows what. Several years back, she left Raven Rock under the claims that she wants to help rebuild Morrowind, refusing to let her son or husband go with her. She has been sending letters to them a few times a year, telling about what she was doing and asking about them, but her leaving is still a huge mystery.
Captain Veleth
(actual NPC in Dragonborn DLC)
As a guard in Raven Rock, Azarys is an underling to captain Veleth. When little Azarys discovered his love for swordsmanship, he started bugging the hell out of captain Veleth, trying to get some classes from him. Even if he obviously denied a little annoying brat like Azarys, eventually Azarys` persistence gave some results, and captain Veleth allowed him to at least train with the Redoran guards. As the time passed by and Azarys showed more and more of his talent and skills, becoming a really good warrior, at some point he was accepted even as a member.
Currently, Azarys feels like he has to perform every order perfectly and tries his best at it. He doesn't exactly feel scared of his captain, but he worked too hard to get where he is now, so he has no intention of losing this.
Around strangers and acquaintances
He's not used to seeing many strangers, he lives in a small town like Raven Rock after all. He's always initially distrustful and scared of people he's not familiar with, especially if they are not Dunmer. However, even though he grew up in a community whose members went through wars with and are distrustful of other races, he himself has never seen such things and his father was always highly against racism, so Azarys simply can't feel some serious personal grudge against anyone even if he tries to. This is why with a few good words, his trust can very easily be earned, even more so if the other person reminds him of his brother. Like stated earlier, once his trust is gained, he's way too naive for his own good. He also becomes very flirtatious around young women, probably without realizing it. If he really really likes them, he'd start leaving little gifts like flowers and sweets, but he very, very rarely dates anyone.
