Description Fire-Imps are a subclass of imp within the Feral Demon Ranking.

Average Size: 3-4ft | 8-15lbs

Hot-tempered, foul, and chaotic demons. Fire-Imps are a monstrous subspecies of imp, known for their blazing temperatures and ability to catch on fire when threatened. They are basically blind, and use their tendrils to feel the world around them. Their blindness usually isn't much of a problem, as their extremities reach temperatures hot enough to melt anything they touch. They are regarded as hazards to be avoided by most demons. Thankfully they are relatively calm as long as they are left alone, their primary food-sources are light, heat, and radiation. Frequently found in lava pools, volcanos and other blistering landscapes to help maintain their body temperature. Their size is largely decided by how much food they can acquire, in Aethos resources are heavily regulated by competition, but on Earth a Fire-Imp could grow to devastating sizes if exposed to the sunlight for too long.

As with most Ferals, Fire-Imps are not very intelligent. They have about the same mental capabilities as a dog or rodent. They form bonded pairs and though they may gather in clusters around food-sources, they will only protect/take interest in the wellbeing of their immediate partner. Because of their diet, places which are depleted remain completely devoid of any heat or light, which suites most other demons just fine. The skin of a Fire-Imp can be described as a shell-like casing with a leathery outer texture, aside from where the heat of its fleshy core shows through, the Imp will always be shades of black.

The fire between its horns is responsible for lighting the Imp ablaze when threatened. The temperature of the surrounding horns is much hotter than the rest of the body and the orb floats through magnetic forces between the horns and the matter inside the orb itself. The horns then drip an oil onto the sphere which acts as a fuel to keep it lit. When threatened, the horns of the imp will double in temperature and release a large amount of oil which will set the entire imp on fire. Producing this oil takes a lot of resources and energy, so care must be taken by the Imp to make sure it does not deplete. Putting out the fire on the orb will not kill the imp immediately, but it will dramatically affect its ability to defend itself, its internal temperature, and general wellbeing until it is relit.
