Studies from a lion photograph, the bottom image was more reference heavy and then I was more free in painting the top cat. I like the orange-gold colors a lot and I think it makes it look more ancient, like how a prehistoric cat might look. Have any of you guys read the Ratha's Creature series? It's an amazing animal POV book for [young] adults and it's probably one of my favorite books ever, probably tied for my favorite one with the His Dark Materials series ;w;
