Description Another piece I should have... really posted. Aha. My brother did photography for awhile and he was really good at it. He would get up at sunset for "dawn patrol" which was what he called doing photography or bodyboarding at Sandy's beach. I think he also called that time of day "golden hour" (or I was the one who looked it up, not sure) which is this ~20min span of time in the morning where the lighting and contrast really peaks for getting a good picture.

This was originally a photo he took of me outside our old home in Hawaii. This was the first and only piece I've done in oils (which are really messy and expensive so I won't be returning to them unless I'm in an open studio somewhere...). I wanted to paint more of his photography, but I think he lost all his RAW files if not his entire computer. What he'd put on social media was too small to work from or wasn't saved properly. But he has some really good wave photos, and even better landscape ones if I remember right, so now that this piece is reminding me of his old photography I think next time I see him I'll bug him about getting to see if there are any surviving files on his computer so I can paint them and take a break from my more cartoony style to practice more detailed work again
