Oops! I forgot to put that it's fimo polymer clay... And you may want to glaze the icing to make it more realistic (not that you really get cakes looking like this)A little tutorial to make some cute rainbow cake charms, Enjoy!

When you put it in the fridge and you take it out, it will still hold the softness to cute but not blend the colors? I've never tried that before...very interesting!

Many tutorials say freezer, but I think that freezers make it to hard so I use the fridge! glad to help

Very cute. The cake decorator in me would like to point out that the top strip should be on top of the cake not dangling magical from the side but I can imagine some one that didn't see them every damn day would be as put of by it as I am.

It's still really adorable. My wife makes miniatures and I know what hard painstaking work it can be this one looks like a really fun protect to start on.

Lol! Someone responded to that comment and told me that clear nail polish works good. You could try that!

There are only two problems with this.
1) My brother may mistake them for actual food and eat them.
2) ... I'd be tempted to eat them as well. *shame*
These points aside, lovely little tutorial here. =3 Nice and simple to follow too, and actually could cover all manner of subjects really, not just this lovely little cake.
