A moments solemn reflection had given way to changing needs and unknown emotions. Her brain tingled with a low static throb as her eyes flickered and swam. Unbearable light flooded into Mia's pupils as her vision began to shift, at once both crisper, yet distorted, as if viewing the world through a warped lens. Trying to anchor her thoughts among the swirls of sensation, she held tightly on to memories of that morning; family, friends from med school, her daily routines and those little acts of kindness that she would offer to strangers. These thoughts became vague over time, dissolving into the low hum that filled her ears. Tightening as if cramped, her jaw began to stiffen as that little button nose twitched and sniffed the air. No longer resembling a humans, Mia's nose had developed a pinkish hue with the skin appearing ever so slightly variegated. A gristly twisting continued to pull her ears up high on her skull, keeping Mia's balance spinning and tilting. Hissing through the bizarre and disorientating sensation, Mia's jaw worked and flexed in all directions, finding this brought some relief to the cramping sensation that gripped it her muzzle, for that's what her face no resembled. With a coppery taste in her mouth, her jaw began to push out little by little, crunching loud in her mind like wet cereal as the sweet youthful features that had charmed so many grew into something unrecognizable...
