Description
Another result of an almost sleepless night. :I Glad I got to finish this anyways.I love to draw dragons. I really do. Not just because they look badass (well, partwise maybe.), can express feelings good or such stuff, because they're damn fun to paint/draw.
Anyways, I overdrew that character so often after I had the dragon finished mostly, first there was an cloaked girl.. then an elf.. happy elf, armored elf, grumpy elf.. gosh that ate some time. Seriously that was a pain. That saddle/throne that was there was overdrawn several times too. Couldnt find any nice character to fit there, got a bit lost there, then decided to put some male character there. Now Im not quite sure which role he plays, like, if he is the rider of this dragon, chasing some other rider, or maybe knocked its owner off of it.
I really cant tell how my feelings for it are right now, I think I need some sleep to think clearly again. I maybe will even redo some parts of this since, like I said, I cant think clearly of it anymore. Tell me what you think of it.
5~6 hours, ps/tablet.
Enjoy!

I think that this is a highly imaginative and well done piece, really my only thought on how to improve it is some of the proportions and mechanics of the dragon seem a bit off. I realize this is fantasy and therefore such things may not apply, but I think they would help to make it look more like a realistic possibility.
>The legs/feet look a bit out of proportion, in that it seems that the body is considerably muscular and looks heavy - the legs/feet could probably be a bit more bulked up to compensate for the body weight. The feet could also maybe be lengthened a tinky bit to be in proportion to more muscular legs.
>The wings look already stretched to the max, being extended as they are. It seems as though they should be able to come farther a bit more - think of when a bird is landing, how their wings come up and forward so as to create a parachute-type mechanic to help slow them down and make for a softer landing. The tops of their wings face up and the body of the wings (in this case the membrane-skin looking part) faces forwards. In the position/angle that the wings are now, it appears as if they would not be able to accommodate for movements like that.
>On a related topic to the wings, the straps of the harness that run from around the front legs to the back seating-portion do seem as though they would hinder much forward wing movement in flight without risking putting undue stress on the seating-portion's straps. I think what I would suggest for this is possibly running the leg strap such as it is right now, but lengthening it and adding another strap that runs to the neck collar to add more stability while still allowing for freedom of movement.
All in all, this is a wonderful piece of work - should you choose to leave it like this, it would still be extremely respectable. These suggestions I made might be more of my preference for technical thought as to how things would work realistically being put into a work of art, but it's really the artist's preference in how to display the image.
Congrats on a great job and a beautiful art piece. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

First off, sorry for replying that late and thank you!
The proportions, yeah. Im not 100% satisfied with them too, was trying around alot to draw the legs differently in the sketch, but nothing really seemed to fit without looking too heavy for this kind of dragon. So I let them how they are right now, but I get what you mean. Would probably crit that first too.
Wings.. and this strap, that was some little problem. I really didnt know where to fix this saddle, since it is kind of heavy and really needs to be fixed a bit more.. was just a problem with that kind of wings like I am drawing them. so they had to be fixed somewhere at the legs, so I decided to do it like that.. I guess it would be wabbling around a bit in that flight and maybe hinder those wings just a little bit. Couldnt find another solution.
Thanks for the critique!

No problem! Like I said, whether you choose to change it or not - it's still a very nice work of art.
