Don't get the wrong idea. I'm not saying people should stop using it altogether. However, I often see people relying a bit too much on it and its female counterpart. I've seen DA galleries that are nothing but "dolls" made with them. To boot, there are a lot of creative characters out there with features beyond the dollmakers' capabilities. I can name a number of my own characters as examples; I looked over the menus and saw no sign of inline skates, multiple heads, or Double Cutters. It may be a good brainstorming tool for beginners, but nobody can be a beginner all their lives.I may or may not make a female dollmaker stamp to go with this one. I'm not sure whether being redundant is better or worse than being sexist.

I usually use it when I want to come up with a basic design for a new character, but am not quite sure exactly how I want them to look. So I usually use a dollmaker and then let my mind add in the undesigned detaits. Once I have the visual down, I work on the rest of the character (past, personality, etc.) I don't use it on ALL of my characters, just the few that I haven't decided on a look for.

The creator of the maker even knows it. There was this tutorial about going beyond the maker and making your own spin on the characters you create. Of course, no one listened. People are lazy.
That being said, I love dollmakers. I just don't feel the results belong in DA galleries. Make a huge folder of images on you hard drive like me!

i think its cool. people who cant draw can still have a seeable FC
but people should really ues it for only that. overusing is definetly annoying

I do agree with this stamp, though I see the female dollmaker used more. Maybe it's just where I'm browsing, but yeah.
Dollmakers in general are overused. If you are having a hard time drawing, use a base. At least that will help you practice with clothing and hair and such.

I don't realy use these games for character creation anyway. I use them for the sake of playing a dress up game with lots of options. I don't realy upload them but. I've uploaded a total of 2 deviations featuring them, one is in my scraps and the other went up for free adoption.
