Could you tell me what kind of snake that is?

That would be a Green Tree Python or Morelia Viridis. The snake's identity is in the Artist's Comments.

The "Olympus Stylus Tough 8010" is an affordable 14MP digital camera with 5x Wide Angle Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD. It has fairly good user reviews and reasonably priced. Some friends have taken it to a water park and they had no issues capturing clear photos underwater.

Anthony - couple of questions for you on this one. Is his cage lighted? Did you use flash? At the recommendation of a fellow DA artist, I recently purchased a rubber lens hood so that I can get flush with the glass on exhibits like the meerkats. I'm not sure that it would work well with snakes because I'm not certain that the focus would work, ya know what I mean? But I sure would like to know how you manage terrific shots like this!!!! Man, this is good!!!!! Thanks, Anthony!

Flash was used for this shot... it was aimed up and the light was bounced from the ceiling.
If you ever get a chance to visit NE Ohio, I could show you some simple tricks with my flash and light reflector.

Amazing! Is that little spot there a single scale in a darker color?

Yes, they usually develop random scales that are different in color from the rest of their body.
