I actually found a nice wing template here: www.deviantart.com/art/pony-wi…
It's originally meant for plushies, but I think the design is transferable.

Ah. This is pretty cool. It's efficient and cost effective. I tend to think of overly complicated cosplay and never do it. lol

Sometimes it is best to start small, especially if you are new to cosplay

Not possible for me! lol It's either all in or don't try at all is unfortunately how I feel about me cosplaying. I enjoy everyone's costumes, regardless of how it looks. Sadly I like full body armor or full costume. lol I can't wait to see/hear how your costume turns out.

lol! Thanks. It won't be anything too over the top, there is a simple yellow skirt with Fluttershy's cutie mark, a necklace, earrings, all things I bought over time off etsy. I just couldn't justify spending $30 for a pair of wings when they were so simple to make a pair.

That makes sense though. Especially since they have to go through a few days at con. You'll be less worried about protecting your costume and enjoy the con. At least you'll be comfortable. Are you going to make ears too? You could probably make it out of foam and put it on a headband or elastic.
Ugh. There's something I really wanna cosplay, but effort... lol Plus even if I succeed, I'd have to ship it to the con. I wanted to make an SD head of a character... but I want to be able to see too. lol

What character are you wanting to cosplay?

Ringabel from Bravely Default. I figured since I'm not that tall, that I can try the in game sprite. As long as I can fit through a door though. He has a big pompadour. lol I really like his character though.

I'm planning on building a costume head so the hair wouldn't be too much of a problem... Making the actual head will be a pain. I'm not sure where to begin. I want to be able to see beyond two dots.

Yeah I. Know what you mean... Sight is really limited in those.
