Description In the Doctor Who episode "World enough and Time", we see one of many parallel origins for the Cyber-race. Humans from Mondas, a planet that was once Earth's twin planet, on a colony ship trapped in the gravity of a black hole spend centuries if not millennia creating a society on the bottom floor (1056) of the ship that eventually fails and requires augmentation for survival. 10 years on the bottom floor would last merely minutes on the top floor, suggesting that anyone that traveled to other floors and brought back other humans would have arrived back on floor 1056 many years after they left. This would mean that the first form, which I call 'Patient form #1', was a stage that existed for an long time in their relative history. The head was wrapped in a 'bag' of plastic flesh, with similar plastic wrapped around the hands. A tube fed through the 'bag' and into the nose with a drip-feed facility coming from technology that had to be carried around, which also served as a keyboard-controlled voice synthesizer with the 'drip' container having a volume control on top. The bag was sealed under the face by a ring of metal attached to surgical gowns and sealed at the crown by a 'knot'. Several pipes also fed through the front of the gowns and back underneath it again, serving a chest unit.

The next development is the 'Patient form #2' which appears to rely less on the drop feed and has a portable, invisible voice synthesizer that may have made it more difficult for their 'carers' to control the volume of, allowing them to ask others freely for death. Early forms had mere slits for eyes compared to the previous form. Later forms had larger holes for eyes as well as a mouth slit.

The next stage is where I add some imagination and speculate that we now have is less of an augmented human, but an early Cyberman. The skull plate, suggested by David Bank's "Cybermen" book as a means to make the brain easier to access for adjustment, makes it's appearance. While this form and it's predecessor seem to co-exist at the same time, this is the final stage before 'full conversion' (at this stage I apologise for the very liberal use of apostrophes in this post). This is the final form that requires the gown or the nose-feed tube, however I class this form as a Cyberman as this is where the brain is likely to have been experimented with.

The end result is a 'Mondasian Cyberman' (as per The Doctor). Closely resembling the Cybermen that invaded Earth direct from Mondas in 1986, these are sleeker and seemingly independent on energy from that world. The antenna are suggested to make up part of the emotional inhibitor. But are they inspired by what happened on Mondas or are they the inspiration for what happened on Mondas? Beta-canon, mythology and continuity are tricky things...
