Back in 2014, I posted a deviation explaining the evolution of CyberNomad into CyberNeomorph, however in 8 years I've realised that I hadn't exactly got my facts right according to the excellent (pun intended) Cybermen book by David 'Cyberleader' Banks and the media based on it. There's also Alpha-and-Beta canon sources that suggest parallel evolution of Cybermen throughout the universe. I've also added my interpretation. So here we go again...

After the CyberFaction's invasion of Earth is defeated ('The Invasion'), a divergence takes place where the Faction remain based on the outskirts of the Sol System however a group later classed as the CyberNomads venture into Mutter's Spiral (aka The Milky Way) to look for new worlds to conquer. Originally looking like their CyberFaction cousins, they evolved into the form we see in 'Revenge of the Cybermen' (1). These Cybermen fight humanoids throughout the galaxy in what became known as the First Cyber Wars. Further divergence of the CyberNomads followed their defeat at the hands of the humans. Forms 2 & 3 are my interpretation of this evolution. Eventually, the later variations of CyberNomad discovered Telos and found it already occupied by Cybermen.

The CyberFaction had remained in the Sol System to conquer Earth, but found their resources dwindling. This forced the CyberFaction to evolve into the eventual form we see (4). Following defeats in space ('The Wheel in Space') and on Earth's moon Luna ('The Moonbase') they abandoned the Sol System. Leaving their exhausted base on the edge of the Sol System which had been their home for many centuries, they discovered Telos which was occupied by the Cryons. The Cryons, masters of using cold storage as a form of suspended animation, became conquered. Some sources indicate that Cyber-technology may have evolved on Telos thousands of years previously and may have spread to other worlds, however the late CyberFaction officially became the CyberTelosians, with almost no further evolution to their CyberFaction form.

Following the First Cyber Wars (which the Earth eventually joined against the Cybermen), it is agreed that when the late CyberNomads met the CyberTelosians, both armies were desperate for survival and merged into one species. The combination of their technology forged the form known as CyberNeomorph (5 and 6), however with the resurgence of the Cryons as a viable threat on Telos the CyberNeomorphs began to view Earth as a prime target again. Their attempt to weaken/destroy the planet failed when a starship they hijacked was sent backwards in time ans became the 'asteroid' which wiped out the dinosaurs. Inspired by this, the CyberNeomorphs planned to travel back in time to the mid-80s and direct Halley's Comet into Earth, causing destruction that would allow the CyberNeomorph army to prevent the destruction of Mondas, home of their 'ancestors' (The CyberMondasians). A CyberNeomorph army hid away on Earth with a second one hidden on the dark side of Luna. This plan failed, Mondas was destroyed according to history and the time-travelling CyberNeomorphs were cut off from the future. The stranded Neomorphs adapted and evolved into CyberIsomorphs however they were limited in number and resources - despite this, it's possible that they collaborated with the CyberFaction in 1988 to obtain Time Lord Technology which would help them both conquer Earth. This also failed, causing heavy damage to the CyberFaction's armies and ironically contributing to the CyberFaction's established history of defeats. The limited Isomorphs died out on Earth and were never seen again...
