Description
A statue of a boy near the Peace Park in Hiroshima. The boy here, to me, looks very kind and full of hope after the tragedy that occured years back. I was touched that someone had knitted him a scarf to keep him warmHolding the bird, he reminds me of the fairytale "The Happy Prince", a statue who told a swallow to pluck the jewels and gold leaf from him and give them to the poor.

Aw, a scarf... awww. That's so sweet. It'd be cool too if you made the rest of the picture greyscale and had just the scarf in color, but it's excellent how it is. Gosh, a scarf on a statue, that's so sweet, i cant get over that

I considered that and it does look like too but the sky was just so pretty that day I didn't want to get rid of the blue Thank you.

This is very nice. The scarf almost gives it a touch of life, and I like it.....

Wonderfully shot piece. I love the warm lighting of the sky behind the statue as it suggests that he brings with him reassurance — exactly what hope itself does.

The picture will be perfect if you change it to black and white or sephia. try to make the statue a bit lighter

I tried already.. I'm a sucker for colours and black and white just looked so grim to me. I did lighten the statue already, any lighter and he looked ill And the statue itself is actually in black and white, the original was lit up very blue by the sky and not so clear. I'm not sure if the changes I made to it were the right ones but for now I'll leave it so I don't stray too far from the original. Thank you very much for your advice though

Very emotional photograph I feel a lot of sorrow for the people of Hiroshima even though it was many many years ago and I had nothing to do with what we did as the allied nations, I will always feel guilty that as a member of man kind I am an offspring off such a destuctive generation.

Hehe, in australia, not many people would consider knitting a scarf for a homeless person, let alone a statue of a boy...
