Description
I was a fan of vampires back before they sparkled or were able to fight their primal urges. They drank human blood and loved it. Neck gnashing, blood bathes, playing cat and mouse just because it was cruel and fun....ah, the good old days.In fact, I was slightly mocked for my interest in them. The girl who mocked me 10+ years ago is now so obsessed with Twilight that she planned her wedding to fall on the same day as
Bella and Edward's.

Yes I know... it's unreal... no one could ever imagine sparkling vampires. Believe me, I love sparkles, but on vampires? Naw uh, no good combination...

That's me all right. I've always loved the demons of the night, but I've never been a fan of Twilight.

I liked vampires before they were cool too. And then Twilight kinda messed up my opinion of vampires

I can't accept that Twilight vampires are really vampires. They just can't compare to the dark vampires I love.

This is all totally me! I was always picked on in highschool because I walked around with Anne Rice books and Buffy books and what not...and then twilight came out and this girl from school that always picked on me was like "OMG! I love vampires!" and i totally wanted to punch her. lol

I'm all for unique interpretations of vampires that break the 'norm', as I'm someone who believes you can't put limitations on a fictional race/species... but I agree, the craze has gotten a tish out of hand. I've been working on a vampire-related novel for over a decade, and now I fear if I get it published it'll just get lost in the sea of vampire-related media >_o Or perhaps worse... miss the boat entirely

It is very out of hand. I remember being looked at funny because I liked vampires...those were the days. Now, media is swarming with them.
Those people who looked at me weird are now obsessing over vampires.

This is so true, I remember playing "vampires and werewolves" when I was 7; it was me and some of my little play friends battling the evil terrors of the night! And at the time I went to a private Christian school, I usually got detention for playing game that involved "evil" during recess. (We were fighting against it ok?? But that doesn't mean I still wasn't a fan for vampires and stuff! )

I still love Vampires and werewolves but not the twilight ones vampires don't sparkle and werewolves don't look like big dogs, they can stand on their back legs and stuff!!!, I live in the UK so we don't have too many mad fangirls over here which I'm very grateful. I like the blood and gore and creepiness, of old vampires and werewolves.

The Scarlet Sisters: Remilia and Flandre.

/Thank you/. 8DD
I was teased too. Because I liked gushing blood and gory crap, and I love /old/ vampires. Not these sucky new ones without coolness or creepiness or CAPES! DD:
I miss the gothic capes, bro. I really do. ;u;

They are. Capes save lives. You cannot call yourself a vampire and not have a cape.

I agree! Vampires are supposed to be blood-thirsty monsters!
On the occasion I draw a vampire in public or tell someone I think vampires are cool, they either say, "OMG U LEIK TWILIGHT HI FIVE GIRLFRIEND" or "Eww Vampires? What a Twi-Tard."
AND I'VE NEVER EVEN READ TWILIGHT.

SaR-ness [2011-07-27 04:17:11 +0000 UTC]
Right? This is why I hate the Twilight Fandom. They ruined Vampires forever.
...No, not the books--the fandom! If it weren't for them, the vampires would not have sparkled in the Movie to begin with. If you actually read the book, it doesn't say the sparkle at all! Honestly...

I actually like Twilight a lot, but I can't say that anymore without being accused of being some bat-shit crazy fangirl; or being accused of not knowing what a vampire actually really is. The fandom ruined it for me, and the haters that follow them did too.

I didn't mind Twilight, although I found aspects of it a little creepy when I thought too long on it. But you are right, to admit you like it has people assuming you are as crazy as the chick who arranged her wedding day to fall on the same day as Bella and Edward's.

I liked vampires when I was little. But when I discovered that the wolf was not a bad animal, I started to give up on vampires 60%. But when Twilight came out, I started to HATE vampires. And in Eclipse, the werewolves are the villains (I guess). So that is my story about Werewolves > Vampires.
