the "fuck" could be a brighter shade of yellow... Meby you should photo shop it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sparkpenguin In reply to CasimirStripe [2008-01-30 06:09:13 +0000 UTC]

it's the brightest there is without becoming a 'tint,' as in too much white. that's called a 'high range' color; if you want something brighter, you never use shade in the sentence requesting such a thing.

but that's photoshop for ya... deifying amateurs since 19.... whenever.

I faved this a while back on an old account..
Seriously i had photoshop CS2,
it was TERRIBLE, the worse program i had ever used.
my first program was paintshop pro 8 and i loved it
and theres so many other programs out there too.
GIMP is one of my favorites. hell, MS paint is one of my favs too, any corel/jasc product is awesome the only i could ever complain about PSP (and this isn't even that big at all) is that the lineart with a brush looks a bit jaggy, but theres always the pen tool which is what i use (not the point to point thing but the freehand one) and i do use a tablet and do traditional work, tablets aren't necessary because i didn't even do stuff on my pc until may of last year, but my hands are shaky now and its hard for me to use one like i could but still PSP FOR LIFE! and whew sorry for the wall of text and useless info, but i TOTALY understand you here.

i like psp's brushes way better for coloring. the fact that it doesn't do those... weird wispy PS lines is why most jasc art stands out in some way. no special feature, everyone's gotta make their own lines. man i used to LOVE airbrushing back in the day.... then i fell for the pen tool.

glad to see someone else with a head on their shoulders though! and thanks for the fave.

Fuck photoshop.
Gimp kicks ass.
Pencils rule all.
Tablets help.
Online paint chats rock.
Markers own.
Paint owns.
FREAKIN' TEXT ART OWNS!
Photoshop fails...

End transmission.

there's just one problem. you didn't mention PSP. D:

and dude i hate tablets they're like Jews for Jesus i mean make up your damn mind either adapt or stick to what you believe in [as in trad vs digital]

but i won't sneeze at your opinion, because any h8r of photoshop is a friend of mine

Photoshop ish good. But its all your opinion, but you don't have to go FORCING it on other people.

I'm a master at photoshop. There is one thing no other program can go like photoshop: The fade brush...
Maybe next time try it before you go judging it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sparkpenguin In reply to Cytric-Acid [2007-08-06 03:51:04 +0000 UTC]

uhduurrrrr maybe next time don't assume i haven't tried it and found a superior program. and most people who download Photoshop or get it for christmas or whatever haven't used PSP. and this is why i get so much static for using it for vector-- because folks are dumbasses and don't know their programs because art schools are like infatuated with Apple and Adobe and that's pretty much the only products they use-- talk about forcing people! fhew.

i been around the block kiddo, Photoshop ain't the best out there. just the most popular. and most of the art looks the same anyhow. i prefer what trad artists do with a good set of markers to the best thing that was ever made in Photoshop. if you don't like my opinion you don't have to; there's certainly no gun to your head here. mellow out.

i'm a vector artist myself, but i can still put lines down on paper and color them without a goddamn mouse!

Xands In reply to sparkpenguin [2007-07-02 01:37:21 +0000 UTC]

I didn't want to turn it into traditional vs digital, just sayin because I'm all bitter and shit But really, Photoshop is overrated when there are other (more affordable) products that do pretty much the same thing. And I hate when people think that Photoshop automatically makes their work better when they couldn't draw anything in the first place...

no-- in an ironic twist of fate i drew it on my wacom tablet then colored it in creative suite 3 and then i used photoshop to completely change the colors.

I have photoshop. I use photoshop. I used to use PSP but then I went on to photoshop. The clunky program that it is. It takes forever to load so if I don't have to load it up I don't. The only thing I ever liked in PSP that I didn't have in PS were the border effects that were in PSP 7. Other than that I didn't mind the change. I've used Gimp, or attempted to, but the interface confused the hell out of me. Artweaver is good to resize pictures when I'm lazy, and I have OC v1.1. I just don't do too much digital art since I suck. But meh....I'll still use PS when I do. Not enough hardrive space for both on this pc.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sparkpenguin In reply to poisonedsodapop [2007-05-23 08:38:40 +0000 UTC]

what OS build do you use?

because when i had win95 and 98 PSP7 didn't run as well. but now that i have xp in classic mode PSP8 runs fine. clunky isn't the program-- it'd be the dependent on the memory and make of the machine you use. obviously the program wasn't designed to run slowly. and i don't use slow programs. your computer probably sucks/needs more ram or your hard drive is too full.

photoshop is ghey. it doesn't run slow or anything, it's just lame and bloated and i see few worthwhile or refreshing artists who use it. photoshop is convention. it's an institution. it is the coca-cola of the digital art programs and i'll hate it to the grave.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

poisonedsodapop In reply to sparkpenguin [2007-05-23 18:41:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh PSP wasn't the one that ran slow. PS is the one that takes 50 years to load up. "ZOMG I'M LOADING BRUSHES THAT YOU DIDN'T EVEN KNEW EXISTED" and I'm like ".....ok...." PSP isn't on this pc. But either way of course my pc sucks. Laptops suck by default. I just don't have room in my room for a desk.

dude, that needed to be said! Paint shop pro I like better anyways, everyones all OMG Photoshop!

Theres so many alternatives out there, too. GIMP. Open Canvas, Paint.net, etc...How come everyone's obsessed with PS?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sparkpenguin In reply to animefreak2345 [2007-05-18 08:12:56 +0000 UTC]

because it's ALL THEY KNOW.
people don't research the alternatives, they just see 'oh this person rules and is famous, i will get photoshop too." or worse, they think photoshop is a *kind* of program and use that term for whatever they use, or as a verb to indicate them digitally coloring/altering a picture. which adds to screen imprints of photoshop, and phases out imprints of other programs.

it's like some weird, sick monopoly.

are photoshop and paint shop pro really that much different?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sparkpenguin In reply to bertroberts [2007-04-17 06:25:26 +0000 UTC]

yeah... you can typically tell something done in paint shop. and typically, they get recognition for looking different. THAT IS if you're talking about completely digital works; the vector tools are more diverse in PSP and the airbrush renders differently. PS's brushes are better for cel shading but/because they don't blend as well, i hear. every airbrushed (they call it digital painting) anime image on deviantart is made with photoshop. they look pro, but they're ubiquitously unremarkable. if you're just manipulating photos or setting text or using filters, the programs are pretty much the same give or take some cheezy exclusives on either side.

i forgot but you have paint shop... right?

photoshop is trendy and overrated! and making people ignorant to other programs. it's the Starbucks of art programs.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DemonShuriken87 In reply to sparkpenguin [2007-04-08 14:27:45 +0000 UTC]

I would say that I spent too much money on Photoshop to do that but OH I got it as a gift from my asshole of a father who's trying to get close to me only because he sees I'm actually starting to make something of myself in my chosen feilds. *grumbling* either way. Is Paint Shop easy to use? I mean... it's taken me a looong time, a year almost, to get good at Photosohp in any way.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sparkpenguin In reply to DemonShuriken87 [2007-04-09 04:42:47 +0000 UTC]

i wouldn't say its easy, i mean it's as easy as talented as you are. all of it's filters and gimmicks are pretty lame, but the interface is really straightforward and it has a VERY complex/versatile vector format. i'm still fidning little shortcuts and click-combos that make me go "WOW i can do that!? i used to *insert long beating-around-the-bush method*"

but it's not all hidden away in a thousand menus. like i said, i found it a lot less pretentious and less of a buoy for people who... want their program to take their suck away. if you're good with photoshop you'll be good in paintshop. i never read any manuals or help files or anything on it.

.. eff ur dad.

DemonShuriken87 In reply to sparkpenguin [2007-04-12 19:02:45 +0000 UTC]

Cool! So i won't need help? Cause when i first started using photo i completely... didn' tknow what to do until i asked my friend eli to help me. Lol. The only reason why I rock today is because he showed me how to actually use the damn thing. Otherwise, i would have had a five hundred dollar peice of software that does nothing. OO

Yea, dad's an asshole. He's lucky I have to love him.
