ORANGE you glad i didn't say mermaid?...seriously that was gonna be the title.
she was also orange before, ..s'why it... makes sense. to me.
now she's more grapefruit-themed.
i drew this for my niece, but ended up needing to have it scanned because i got pizza sauce and then wine on the original lineart. but i liked it so much i began coloring it, and one thing led to another...
when i get the chance to reprint them, i'll give her the lines to color like i give to me nephew all the time. but this color version should stay under wraps. >.>;; or else i'll be coloring their requests gratis until i'm old and gray! i can't charge first graders!
i'm not an asshole! i just can't say NO to them. XD
THIS IS LINELESS! i know, right? that's why it sucked for so long while i was making it.
never done a fish texture before. it was weird. be easier outside of vector, definitely. sooo many ellipses!
HUNDREDS OF THEM. tail was hard.changing my mind on colors 5059 times was hard.
also never tried to do cobalt glass, i dunno how i made out with that. okay i suppose, overlay turned the earrings kinda purple.

The Little Mermaid would have been more amazing if they used this concept for Ariel. She seems a deep-sea mermaid. Maybe one that protects the void between the known areas of the sea and the unknown. What you don't know can't hurt you but what you do know.....
Maybe she is one of those angler fish or has light-up parts to see around the dark.
And I think that the digital lower half is the best thing about her. she's sparkling in the sea. Very flowy. I didn't even recognize that it was the one you drew for angelina from the thumbnail. it looks to different. So awesome.

dude! deep sea is exactly what i had in mind. "reef" merms are everywhere. coulda gone more extreme with the theme but.. i like where she is.
she could use an angler light though.... omfg that'd be fun to light/shade/color. ..not on this. some other time.

Lovely work and spectacular colourfull to look at : pretty cool artwork for some longhaul truck (trailer) too.
I mean it is definatly something more different than the green goblin in Trucks.

Circle patterns hurt with raster, I could imagine how much of a bitch they are otherwise. x_X
I love the shading on her stomach, I also love her eyes. And the flowy hair, it has lovely colours. <3 The design elements like the fins and scales on her arms are a nice attention to detail toooooo.

i actually really dislike her hair; i slummed it out because my shading style looks balls without any lines to hide the choppiness in the highlights. i'm happy with how i was able to present it, but it was a really hard time! thanks for diggin her arm fins-- my first major OC had them, so it was kinda nostalgic to add em on here.
