Description That's right folks, I drew a labyrinth on the calculator in the process of avoiding my college precalc homework

New updated picture with better quality!

I used the "2nd > Draw > Pen" function for this on my TI-83 Plus calculator and I turned off the coordinate system and the axis.

Other pieces of calculator art that I have done:

I use the "2nd > Draw > Pen" function for this on my TI-83 Plus calculator. I also turned off the coordinate system and the axis to clear the screen. I messed up a few times to start so the only way to remedy that is to erase everything and to start all over again.

-goes to get her TI-84 Plus and hopes she can do that too
I don't have a draw button ):

The "DRAW" button is the same button as "PRGM".
The "DRAW" menu is accessed by pressing the "2ND" button first and then pressing the "PRGM" button second.

Try that and see if it works

I must say I have not played with my calculators enough! Now I basically use MATLAB

There's a very pleasing quasi-symmetry to this Nice blue calculator skin too.

haha I play with my calculator too often XD My roommate uses MATLAB and just made a 3D contour map of the mountains in his area, accurate to boxes of 100' square. it was pretty sweet looking when he was done.

thanks for the compliment on the calc color too! I dont think they make colored ones anymore...at least not like this one. This one is see through blue so you can see the components on the inside of the calc. Other colors I have seen are orange see-through, green see-through, and for the silver edition ones, they had silver see-through ones as well. But I've only seen maybe 2 other blue ones besides mine.

ModularBlues In reply to SpasiantasticalMan [2010-11-26 06:09:29 +0000 UTC]

Oooh, 3D contour with MATLAB sounds awesome. I mostly do numerics with N-dimensional matrices (N = large number)... not as visually exciting, oh well.

I don't see much color customization nowadays either... there was a green one and a blue one, not sure if I saw a red one? Sony sells colorful rubber laptop keyboard covers, I might get one to prevent keyboard accidents.

Oh yes...N...Im so glad that i never have to take another math class ever again lol. I stopped at college calc, and then I took two engineering classes...now i am officially done with math! yay!

haha ive seen those keyboard covers too. i just hate typing on rubber XD

I'm surprised you were able to do something so complicated! I used to try to do stuff like that on a calculator like that, but It never worked for me! That makes you awesome, mate!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpasiantasticalMan In reply to DeathMonkeys [2010-11-24 06:01:50 +0000 UTC]

well at least you have tried to do something like that before. I know that I drew this out on graph paper before putting it on the calculator which made it easier, but I still screwed up a bunch of times lol.

DeathMonkeys In reply to SpasiantasticalMan [2010-11-24 14:40:38 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that probably would have made things easier, drawing it before hand

I love 'draw' on my calculator! I made a cowboy that actually moved his lasso in a circle! I learned next to nothing in class that day. ^-^

Some of the most creative things come out of procrastinating

SpasiantasticalMan In reply to Oxidizing-Angel [2009-12-21 05:03:39 +0000 UTC]

hahaha gotta love it! I know that if I try to write a paper a week before it's due, I wont have any good ideas, but if I start writing it 2 hours before class, I'll somehow get an A. lol just my luck, soo I consider procrastinating a good thing

SpasiantasticalMan In reply to AutumnWynd [2008-07-21 22:18:12 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much I'm glad you like it.

It took me about...3 hours I'm thinking and about 5 start overs because I kept on messing up lol. But this one came out good and I felt like a really accomplished geek afterwards too, going around to everyone saying, "hey! look at what I did on the calculator!!"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AutumnWynd In reply to SpasiantasticalMan [2008-07-22 23:19:00 +0000 UTC]

3 hours? Wow. I remember trying to draw things on my calculator. I would just give up after messing up. I hate how things can't be undone.

If I made something as awesome as this, my inner nerd would be showing it off until the end of days. Well at least until I accidently delete it that is.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpasiantasticalMan In reply to AutumnWynd [2008-07-25 23:24:46 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha I hate how you can't undo things too! That's why it takes a while to get it. Actually I ended up drawing this out on graph paper to so I wouldn't have to guess and redo it so many times.

But the good news is that if you do create something awesome, you can save it in the memory of the calculator so you'll never lose it!

[2nd]+[DRAW] Draw Menu
[<] Sto Menu
[ENTER] 1:StorePic

and then just save it to some number and when you want to see it again, go to the same place except instead of doing a 1:StorePic, do a 2:RecallPic and type in the number and bada-bing bada-boom, up comes your picture!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AutumnWynd In reply to SpasiantasticalMan [2008-07-28 23:05:16 +0000 UTC]

The graph paper is a smart idea. I need to try that out.

I had no idea that an image could be saved. I must try this out. Thanks for the instructions.

If you want to see another drawing that I've done on my calculator, you can find it at this [link] I also saved this one to my calculator too. Fun stuff. Hopefully you get inspired to do different kinds of drawings.
