Nope, she's not an OC!... well, not exactly...This is Groyna, and she was originally conceived for a cancelled Invader Zim episode called 'When Pants Ruled!" Here is a link to the Invader Zim Wiki entry concerning the episode: zim.wikia.com/wiki/When_Pants_… !
We don't know anything about Groyna, other than she's a "tough, jock girl," who, after rescuing Dib from a mind-controlled, alien-pants wearing mob, teams up with him in resistance, but eventually-- tragically-- succumbes to this latest, freaky fashion trend... oh, and also evil plan of Zim's
Now, I tell you... I was SHOCKED
I did a search on DA and found LITERALLY ONE CONCEPT DRAWING OF HER!!!!! ONE!!!! I mean SERIOUSLY!! Given fans'-- not just IZ fans, but fans of anything in general, and especially overly enthused shippers... given their tendency to take the slightest thing and run to all hell with it, I am seriously stunned that no one has ever taken this concept and tried to develop it like I've seen with the other cancelled episodes. And as for Groyna-- PEOPLE... SHE TEAMS... UP... WITH... DIB!!! SHE RESCUES HIM!! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! I'm not saying there needs to be a DibxGroyna shipping fandom that grows out of this, but C'MON, IT'S PRETTY FREAKING NEAT!! Considering it sounds like she's the only characters on the show besides Agent Darkbootie to EVER show Dib any concern or believe him about anything involving Zim and his alien-ness (and NO, Tak does NOT count) THAT'S A PRETTY BIG DEAL!! HOW IS IT THAT NO ONE... NO ONE WAS EVER CURIOUS ABOUT THIS CHARACTER!? EVEN JUST A LITTLE BIT!? I JUST... i MEAN... AM I WRONG HERE!? AHHHHHH!!!!!!! *HEAD EXPLODES*
*Ahem* So anyhoo... heh... heh heh... Woah, it's hard to type without a head... Um, anyhoo, given that the comic coming out next month sounds suspiciously like the plot of this cancelled episode-- or even if it isn't-- I thought it would be fun to take a crack at doing a design for Groyna ^^ even though I actually came up with this quite awhile ago when I learned about the episode. From her name and very vague description, I pictured her looking like a bigger, stockier female version of Torque
I actually think she's pretty cute, in a She-Hulk kinda way ^^ 
Or maybe in a Grenda from Gravity Falls way, now that I think of it. And hey, if she's on Team Dib, then she's okay by me any day 
C'mon, let's give this jock girl some lurve! 
And sorry, despite my rant up there, I don't have anything other than this little design of her
No fics or backstory, nor do I plan on doing any (I've got a mile long list of other crap to do). I was just surprised to see no one, it seemed, even had a passing interest in her like I did, or even knew she existed. So yeah, don't take all that too seriously Update: According to Megan Lawton's DA, the next issue of IZ IS, in fact, based on the lost episode, "When Pants Ruled!"
That means maybe we'll get to see the actual Groyna! Update: April 2016-- Well, the comic is out, and indeed we DID get to finally meet Groyna ^^ And now I get to see how WRONG my design for her was
While I got the face, hair, and skin color wrong, I actually was surprisingly close on her outfit-- I was even one away from the number on her shirt! And I do believe she had on a band-aid in one panel, though it was on her knee. They had similar body types too, though my Groyna is a little stockier.I liked this issue, although I'm a little disappointed that Dib didn't act a little more heroic when Groyna was being attacked
Though I suppose there wasn't a lot he could have done, and probably thought he'd have a better chance of going after the main threat. Also, I know he's anti-social and wary of trusting anyone, but I thought he should have taken her up on her offer to team up (though that fake comic of them as 'Pants Hunters' was hilarious ), and maybe at least tried to comfort her when she was upset. But I guess she WAS kind of rude to him, even bringing back the 'big head' comments, so I understand why he'd be hesitant. Overall a good issue-- the Dib mobile was just adorable And for once I'm SO glad Dib got the last laugh Groyna concept and Invader Zim created by Jhonen Vasquez and Eric Truehart

I recently got the comic based on this episode. It was pretty good; definitely one of my favorites!
And we did finally get to see Groyna. (Unfortunately, she didn't exactly look like this, other than the general body shape.)
But this is pretty good!

Same here, I'm glad we got to see her finally ^^ I got her face, hair, and skin totally wrong, but I was surprisingly accurate on her outfit XD I even almost got the number on her shirt right! And my Groyna is a little stockier, though they sort of have the same build.
I liked the comic, though I felt Dib could have been a little more heroic when Groyna was being attacked. Plus I know he's anti-social and wary to trust people and all, but I thought he should have taken up her suggestion of teaming up. But she was a little rude to him (even started up the 'big head' stuff again

Thanks for bringing this little-known character to our attention! Though are we sure that she was (going to be) real? I seem to remember there being contradictory versions of what was supposed to happen in some of those unmade episodes.

I can't say for 100% certain that Groyna would have survived the re-writes for the script had the episode actually been made, or what her characteristics would have been. All I have to go by is what I've read on the IZ Wiki, but I'm just surprised that she slipped so easily into obscurity, given how fans love to obsess over the tiniest details of their favorite shows, especially the mysterious "unmade episodes..." (insert spooky music here) and I'm especially surprised she never caught the attention of the Dib fans. As you know Dib doesn't exactly get much love on the show, so when it's rumored a new character may come along that might supposedly show him a little support, it's a pretty rare and wonderful thing, something we'd LOVE to see happen for once (at least that's how I feel as a fan). A character like that is one I'd definitely root for and be curious about, so it was amazing to me that she's nowhere to be found in the IZ fandom.
As for the comic, I don't know if it will follow the plot of the unmade episode-- all I heard was something about it involving pants

It's apparently confirmed that it will be based on the "Pants!" episode, so let's see if Groyna still makes it in (and if something happens so that any chances of her and Dib getting along get screwed over).

Oh trust me, I've known about this episode for a looooong time. I was a bit iffy about it though. The plot for it seemed weak to me and it just didn't feel right. I heard they cancelled it because it was a lot like the Jimmy Neutron episode "When Pants Attack".
I've noticed that a handful of the episodes that came after the cancellation were pretty off (like Mortos der Soulstealer off). I guess in a way... the show's cancellation was a good thing. The comics gave it a strong comeback and they still feel like IZ.

True, the episode didn't sound like the greatest, and I heard the same thing about it, but I was still curious about Groyna's character and what she could have been like had it been made. And it was just surprising to me as a Dib fan, one who would have LOVED to see him get some rare support from SOMEONE on the show for once, by someone his own age and who goes to his skool, that someone, somewhere wasn't also curious about her, at LEAST as a concept.

I say go for it! I won't lie-- it's true that a lot of people are annoyed by OCs, especially if they're paired with one of the main characters, and will dismiss them as 'just another Mary-Sue.' But firstly, these types of people who gripe about other peoples' creations usually don't have much to show in their own creative areas, and secondly, haters gonna hate, and sometimes people are just jerks for no good reason. I have never understood the need to ruin someone's fun and shatter their confidence by criticising their characters. There's nothing wring with constructive criticism, but I doubt that's the goal of someone who leaves a comment like 'UR OC SUX U SHUD DIE.' And believe me, I'm not immune to this sort of asshole. I've gotten thousands of lovely, supportive comments over the years on my art, but I still can remember the handful of bad/negative comments I've gotten, and they still bother me. There's no denying they sting, no matter how you try to rationalize them, and it's something I need to learn to handle better myself. But I do try to remember all the kind, positive people out there who enjoy what I do, and it makes that risk of putting myself out there worth it and makes ignoring the jerks so much easier
Of course all this is assuming people won't react well to your OC, but this might not be the case at all ^^ They might love what you come up with!
I know it's hard to have that confidence sometimes, but I also know that a lot of times we build up things in our heads WAY too much and things don't turn out nearly as bad as we think, so I think if you're having fun developing this IZ-sona and are happy with it, then damnit girl, put it out there!

Thank you so much I was just really insecure about it. Honestly, I didn't plan on making my IZ-sona anything special -- just a plain human without any special powers. And about Tak... I must admit she's pretty good design-wise but she DOES look too unique from other Irkens and seems too bitchy in the first half(in her human form she looks and acts like a typical cartoonish spoiled brat).

I remember him blogging something like that once. I can't remember what he said specifically, only that he was disappointed this ep. was never made and we never got to see Groyna. Funny thing is, I just learned that the next issue of the comic IS going to be based on the cancelled episode, so we might get to see her for real now!
