I would normally keep quiet about these kinds of ideas, but I can't do anything with this one right now and I don't want to keep it to myself. This is sort of a... statement of what the EoH will be and how they will work when I manage to write that type of stuff for CiM.

The Elements aren't what the mane 6 ponies are best known for, they're lessons. They're things that through the course of their first adventure together, they realize or discover or re-affirm how much they want these traits, despite not having them. That way, the Elements are a vehicle for growth. These aren't things that they're famed for, these are the traits they really don't have but really want.

Despite having a 'leader' Element with a tiara instead of a necklace, the next major difference is the lack of a 'main' Element, an elusive kind with a special sense of destiny. The leader is simply whoever happens to be the leader of the group at the time, so any of the other Elements can take their place and the previous leader can be substituted easily. So that probably means Spike really can be the new Rainbow Dash.

Responsibility for my OC. Responsibility meaning responsibility as a leader, responsibility to her friends and taking responsibility for everything in her life, if there's a problem she's unhappy about, it's her responsibility to fix it. If this Rainbow Dash can lead the Elements of Harmony, it means anybody can, and I hope that can be inspiring.

Loyalty for Twilight. This version of her is still pretty similar to her FiM counterpart at the time of the pilot episodes, but she knows more about friendship through knowing Rainbow Dash so long. This Twilight is motivated to be there for her friends, and most importantly, to be a better friend. There's a voice inside her head that always tells her she doesn't deserve them, or that she doesn't need them, and when she beats herself up it's often not for doing a better job as a friend. She's organized, but klutzy, and loves the idea of having a protective leader to devote herself too, whether it's Rainbow or Princess Celestia. After all, what is the difference between Loyalty and Magic?

Level-headedness for Pinkie Pie. Being level-headed enough not to panic, since she seems to have two sides to her in FiM, maybe what she really needs is balance. I see her as wanting to control that darker side of herself which is triggered by fear.

Trust for Braeburn. It sort of fits really well, and it ties in with being the new version of Honesty for me. Wanting to be trustworthy and reliable, and also the idea of him having a rough past, coming from the desert, and not being able to open up and trust other ponies. It's not exactly based on anything I know of, but it would make him more interesting.

Selflessness for Spectra. Basically the new version of Generosity, but instead of "You've got a generous streak in you, even though you're kind of selfish" it's "You want to be less selfish."

Courage for Derpy. Again, I don't know why except it makes sense to me and it fits in well with the others. It's possible something could happen to her, something to do with Derpy being censored a year ago getting stuck in my head might have something to do with it. It makes sense somehow for hers to be Courage, and for the CiM version of Fluttershy to take her place.

I'm not explaining anything that people can easily find out about, it raises curiosity that way. Also I'm probably going to get a bit of hate for this, but I think this is a much better system than the FiM one, the one that Lauren Faust came up with. I don't like that the Elements are so defining. I'm not saying I'm better than Lauren Faust, but... I'm glad I came up with this. It sort of comes from the end of a SW: The Clone Wars episode called The Gathering. At the end, Yoda tells the students what they learned about themselves in the cave, hope, trust, confidence, selflessness etc. I can see Celestia in that same position here. Whether or not the first Elements of Harmony story will revolve around Nightmare Moon or not I haven't decided.
