Description I WANTED TO DO SO MUCH MORE WITH THIS! But im scared of ruining it

Anyway watched "The Thing" again (Hence the review) And after discussing it with here's a weird combo of Necromorph and The Thing. I think I went more The Thing than Necromorph, Could've added a Leaper tail or something

May end up drawing this guy more and change it more. Maybe is back looks like there's a Guardian lodged in it

~dismemberednecromorf did a better version of this concept:

Pretty much. Unless he gets a pretty heavy duty flame thrower.

Truth is, a similar concept of the thing was used in the Dead Space series.

Indeed, I love the concept and designs of both
In fact I think the similarness of them was what brought me and my friend to this idea/concept of a fusion.

Yep. It's to my understanding that Dead Space is like a cross between Resident Evil and The Thing. Resident Evil because the Necromorph inection is similar to the zombie infection in turning humans into mindless savage beasts that act only on a single instinct to destroy or infect anything that's not of their own. The Thing because of the fact that the aliens can somehow absorb organic matter to create even more hideous monstrocities like the hive mind. As for the Thing, I have seen both the 1982 movie and the prequel movie that came out just about a week ago or so. It's awesome.

That is pretty much spot on for Dead Space only I think it's got a little bit of Silent Hill in there with how it affects some of the characters mentally and such.
I've seen the 1982 movie, the 1951 one as well plus read the book, the new prequel is yet to be released where I am.
Plus If I'm to make a recommendation I wouldn't bother with the 1951 version It changes from the book massively to the point of the alien actually being essentially a plant (Even at one point in the film being referred to as a "intellectual carrot" ), the 1982 version is pretty much spot on to the book with only a few changes.

Yeah. I can see a bit of Silent Hill in it as well. I've heard of the 1951 film though I've never seen it before. But I hear that the novel from which both the 1951 and the 1982 films are based on was originally called "Who Goes There?" written by John W. Campbell, Jr. and published in 1938. Yeah, I've heard of the alien in the 1951 version being plantlike. Wheras in the 1982 film and the prequel movie, the alien is organic, and has that ability to not only imitate other life forms, but can somehow multiply itself and spread from one host to another.

I liked that aspect added into it.

Yeah it's a good book, not sure if I just found a edited copy on the net (For some reason the available Libraries in my area do not have it) but at one or two points I had to re-read it as it seemed as if it jumped a little bit but as a 1930's book it's written a little differently to modern books, Yes it's always been organic it's just the 1951 version that states otherwise although I wouldn't doubt that the organic 'Thing' might've assimilated some intelligent plant-like organisms before it reached Earth.
The 1951 version did have it feeding of the plasma in blood for growth (It grew 'saplings' this way) So I guess the organic version might've absorbed the bodies it was assimilating to create the extra mass.

I aught to look into it. I bet it's a good book.

Yep; the more life it consumes, the bigger it grows in mass. It's actually quite scary just thinking about what other planets the creature has been to and what other life forms it's consumed and imitated before it moved on and came to Earth. It's that kind of monster that feeds endlessly.

SpontaneousFork In reply to MDTartist83 [2011-10-25 18:33:38 +0000 UTC]

'Tis a good read.

Definatley scary when you consider it could have already been to a planet where everything is about 8x bigger than here, plenty of mass for it to consume and with alien biology it could potentially do anything depending on where it's been for all we know it could've assimilated a species with a unique hide thick enough to repel gunfire and thick enough for it to withstand a flamethrower attack just long enough to give it time to attack or escape before it reaches the more sensitive areas, it has a potentially limitless range of tactics.
That was the idea I and my friend had for this creature, If it did come across the Necromorph infection it probably would go mad and try to absorb anything and everything until it just consumes itself.

that's whats easy yet hard on creating an alien that can be any form at any time, that knows thousands of other alien forms and attacks.
