Description I'm on that pokemon kick so here's some more Fakemon from my fan region idea or whatever it is

These two are my ideas for the grass starter and the water starter. (I don't have names for them yet)

The story of this region involves the region's climate changing (either colder or warmer depending on which "version" of the game you got - it also determines which legendary you end up with and where you start) It starts to become a problem when the two legendary pokemon who keep heat and cold in balance aren't regulating the temperature like they're supposed to. Turns out the "evil team" of this generation takes one legendary and plans on getting the other one so that they can fix this problem by convincing (forcing) the legendaries to serve them. The evil team is a big company with a lot of money because they produce potions or something. I'm working on those details alright.

And you as the 10 year old trainer, will single-handedly beat a corporation and save the region because that's how pokemon works.

So basically a lot of the region revolves around weather effects and such.

The starter are pretty much the last of their kind. Basically revived like fossil pokemon because their ancestors were killed by humans long ago. The three were considered legendaries of their own, they were rare, but powerful as individuals. They guarded the sea, land, and wildlife from humans, making the region uninhabited by people for a long time. They basically killed any humans who set foot or boat in the region and were considered impossible to tame - which is why they were all killed.

And now the region's professor (I had a name for her but I forgot it) has found a way to bring these pseudo-legends back. She's probably a friend of your characters mom/dad so she offers one of them to be you and your friend/rival's first pokemon. After all if any bond is the strong enough to befriend them it's a trainer and their first pokemon. If the starters turned out to be too hard to handle, or even violent - they would have been taken away.
But of course, you have your first battle, and everything goes fine. Your starter even seems to trust you more than the professor was expecting.

Then off on your journey you go, with the professor occasionally checking in on your progress with - you know - the nearly extinct species in your possession now. Eventually you get roped into saving the region because the evil team is making some bad decisions for goodish reasons.

Maybe more on all that later.

Anyway these two.

The grass starter is based of mandrakes kinda. It has a very shy disposition with strangers and will bury itself to avoid conflict. If pulled out, it will emit a startling screech and flail about. As it grows stronger it's voice gets louder and it's leaves become tougher.
Eventually it becomes a grass/steel type. Mostly a special attacker, probably the fastest of the 3 starters upon full evolution. Would have a signature steel type special attack where it gives an rock shattering cry.
I'm thinking about some screamo or hard metal elements thrown into it's design if I can figure that out..
The full evolution protected forests by singing to the plants to help them grow, and then screaming at humans to either knock them out or scare them away.
Anyone who fell to the scream was never seen again.

The water starter is based of the Kraken or giant squids. On it's full evolution it will also resemble a big iceberg. This pokemon is very excitable, and likes to surprise others for fun. They should be taught not to pull their trainers underwater as a "surprise" however. This pokemon forms water around it's head from the air around it, and as it grows stronger, the water becomes denser and colder.
When it evolves the water hardens into ice and it becomes a water/ice type. It becomes really huge, but really slow upon final evolution. A strong a fairly bulky physical attacker I'm thinking.
Also this guy used to protect the oceans from any ships they found wandering too close. The full evolution would either trap ships into running into their iceberg head or would burst out of the water to break the ship apart - only saving pokemon and pulling any strangling humans down themselves.

I don't have the fire starter drawn yet (I have some sketches) but it's based on minotaurs and it becomes a fire/ground type.

These designs are still subject to change.
