from- my comic, "The God Machine." [coming Summer 08]

Time taken about 30 minutes.
For teh last couple of days i've been waking up with a song by "Creature Feature" called "Buried Alive." To accompany that song in my head, has been this image. It's been quite bothersome not to draw when that's your natural intention. Everything has been me coloring my comic for the last couple of weeks. So i decided to do this image/exercise tonight to satisfy that need.
So here's this rough little image. yay?
EDIT: Which I forgot to mention- This has inspired a story line...or at least a part of one. What that is, i won't tell. >

At least he's got a candle... you hit the spot on the lighting, and the empty eyes just give the fullness to the wraught emotion... This is a bit funny maybe, it does remind me of the moment from Buffy (did you watch Buffy?) when she's kind of regenerating and then freaking out and clawing her way out of her grave... Especially the blank eyes... (oh, Buffy.. I think we might start season 7 today)

i take it as a compliment. Actually i'm surprised at how many people i've made claustrophobic, and sick from this image. It's probably the greatest feeling to know that i'm freaking people out...

wow I love how you made it look like a real coffin and the lighter looks so real to but my fave part is the way you made Guy look like hes on the verge of a panic attack

That is great, I love the emotion of the piece, and you can tell that's Guy's character.
I love how it seems like the earth is rushing about him to trap him in.

This sort of reminds me of one of Dr. Kovorkian's paintings. It was called Nearer to my god than thee. Man he creeps me out! lol!
It really does look like there's panic in this. OMG and the thought of being no one knowing where to find you and you're dying slowly in a cave...*shudder* that's just creepy dude, lol!

This is really greet. You CAN get a sense of claustrophobia there.

Love the perspective and lack of detail of the actual image, leaves it to the viewers imagination really rather than setting boundries of "He's in a coffin!" or something, lets you really connect with how Guy would be feeling.
Really love the work with the lighting too.
At most the hand (not holding the lighter) looks a little bit stiff, mostly around the tips of the fingers. But overall it's very nice.
