Description I love dragonflies, I always follow them whenever they fly by until they fly out of sight.

My squirrel dog likes them for a different reason. Haha, I remember seeing my cat do the same thing.

This one took me a while, and most of it was experimenting with colors. I guess it turned out ok c:

Download for more detail though I think it looks fine the way it is XD (I didn't zoom in too much so the detail isn't a very big deal)

Crit plz lol

he should have a shadow underneath? or is it off-screen?

Spring-the-Rabbit In reply to figsf [2008-07-28 22:04:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah lol

I actually thought of that because I wasn't sure how to make the patch of grass look as he's jumping out, so I made it off screen. Seeing how the ground does that curving illusion, the view is close to the ground.

omg im so proud of myself c:

The clouds could do with following the circular composition and have you considered making his eyes bulge out more; check out pictures of squirrels, rabbits and the like. Side on their eyes look quite deep set but from the front you'd be surprised how much they bulge out. If you want to push the feeling of movement then the dragonfly could do with some work.
Colours are awesome and his paws are so so cute, where can I get one?

I understand, but I wanted to make sure I filled the negative space enough. That's not a bad idea though.

As for the eyes, he's a medium sized animal so they wouldn't bulge out as much (He's called a squirrel dog for his huge tail) but I get what you're saying. I think there's a lack of detail to show it.

Yeah, it could be just a lack of detail around his head/eye area, his back-end (lol) is really lovely, looks so fluffy and that's where all the action is at the moment.

I think the way you've placed the clouds has made a bit of a hole/negative space just above him or it could just be that there's nothing right at the top of the picture and cropping it would get rid of it, or even make the clouds a little bigger to fill out the space.

Hmm, perhaps. The space to the right of the dragonfly is a little empty.

Thanks c:

Hah wow, this looks really amazing! Even to the tiny little details like the specks of dirt off his paws, and the way the picture is focused on him as the horizon is curved upwards. c: Silly little squirrel dog.

I'm not one to give very advanced critique, but I do think this is really quite good the way it is.

Hee thanks. I picked up the specs of dirt trick from one of my friends who used it in his action sequences. He pulls it off better but he told me it's a great way to show the illusion of movement.
