Description
Phoebe looked around. She had followed the suspicious man to the warehouse full of trapped birds after calling back most of her Pokémon. Only her Zorua-Floette mix was accompanying her out of the Pokémon in the fair. Foxglove was small, and unlike some of the other Dark types she brought, calmer and more level headed. The brightly colored bird Pokémon were cawing in distress around her. She couldn’t tell if they noticed her or were just uncomfortable in their cages. Right now none of the people in charge of the warehouse were moving towards her. They were used to the noise, she thought bitterly. Phoebe still curled up tighter, prompting a small whine from Foxglove. The mix breed Pokémon gave a little whine in complaint. She didn’t think she’d win in a direct fight, and horrifying images of her Pokémon injured and little trinkets made from their fur or horns flashed in her mind. She shook her head. Even if she did win there was no guaranteeing the safety of her Pokémon or the trapped birds. She’d have to get them out. Phoebe let go of Foxglove, and the Zorua-Floette mix gave a harsh look to her trainer before going to the nearest bird. Foxglove used her illusion abilities and transformed into one of the birds. Her snout disappeared beneath a bright yellow beak and blue and green feathers seemed to sprout all over her body and a crest of gold and black feathers appeared on the top of her head. Her Floette tail remained unchanged, but Foxglove still pretended to be a Chatot, while flying around with her oversized flower in her mouth. Some of them quieted and looked at the strange illusion with curiosity.
Phoebe approached the birds next and picked up two of the cages. The birds fidgeted away from where her hands gripped the cage. Phoebe made several shushing noises and moved towards the exit. Foxglove picked up another two cages with her Vine Whip. The two snuck out with their four.
Phoebe broke into a sprint when they exited and set the cages down when they were far enough away. The poor birds squawked louder at the unfamiliar surroundings.
Phoebe fumbled with her Pokéballs and summoned Cordelia, Garnet, and Arrow, so she could have some strong Pokémon around her while they worked on the cages. The Stantler, Ampharos, and Mightyena stretched after being released. Arrow began sprinting around, still excited from the chase he got into earlier. Cordelia and Ampharos turned their attention to their trainer, their teammate, and the four birds. Phoebe looked over her Pokémon and decided to throw Hellebores and Draco out too. The Skiddo and Deino began to immediately run around and look for either the man they were chasing or whatever seemed to have chased their trainer here. Phoebe sighed and released North and Iris, so that most of the party from before was there. The Eevee and Nidoran began gamboling around with the other Pokémon.
“Alright, we need to try and help these birds,” said Phoebe as she gestured. Arrow, Hellebores, Draco, North, and Iris turned their attention to her. “Foxglove is trying to calm them down. I need some of you to watch. If anyone can help get them out, do it.” Phoebe pulled out a bobby pin and began fiddling with one of the locks.
North nudged his daughter, and the Eevee and Nidoran moved out to watch.
Meanwhile, Cordelia calmly looked at the panicked birds then sent forward one of the orbs that floated around her antlers. Her eyes glowed and the orb floated back and forth. The Chatot in the cage Phoebe was working on warily looked at the floating orb, then slowly calmed down, until it eventually fell asleep. Cordelia moved on and used Hypnosis on the other three Chatots, each one falling asleep quicker than the last as she got the hang of her new move.
“Okay, that makes it easier,” said Phoebe. “Still can’t get this lock off.”
Garnet moved to one of the cages and held it steady with one of her flipper like arms, while she curled the other into a fist around the lock. Flames sprouted around her arm, and she thrusted it forward. The lock heated up and broke away with ease.
“One down,” said the Mega Ampharos. She gently picked up the sleeping Chatot and placed it in a soft looking patch of grass.
Arrow moved to one of the cages and put one of his paws on the top, then grabbed the lock on the cage in his jaws and pulled. He twisted his neck around as he tugged. He growled a little, then grabbed the door with his teeth and managed to take the cage door off with Thief. “Yes,” he howled before he turned to Phoebe and presented the tangled metal to her while his tail wagged.
“Good boy,” she said as she ran her fingers through the Mightyena’s thick fur.
Hellebores watched the exchange and turned to Garnet. “Could you hold this cage still, pleeeeease?” she said. “I can do what Arrow did. Watch!”
Garnet cautiously placed her flipper-like arms on the cage while Hellebores began stomping on the top of the cage while grabbing top of the door in her teeth. Eventually, she used Thief to take the door off of the other cage. She chewed idly on the bit of door in her mouth. Phoebe and Garnet removed the two Chatot from the broken cages and put them with the first one.
Draco picked up a rock and placed in under the lock of the remaining cage then began smashing down on the lock and rock with one of his front legs. Eventually, the Rock Smash broke the lock on the cage. Phoebe gently picked up the last Chatot and put it on the ground with the other three her team saved.
“Thanks for the good work you guys,” said Phoebe. She shivered as she thought about what the logical next step would be, then paused and took out a pencil and paper. On a few pieces of paper she scribbled the phrase, “Poachers near fair. Need help. Follow this Pokémon.”
“Okay, Cordelia, make sure this gets translated to everyone well,” said Phoebe. The Stantler nodded, and Phoebe took a deep breath and concentrated on the outcome she wanted. “Iris, North, and Foxglove, I want the three of you to go back to the fair and find some trainers to help, then bring them here. I’m going to show Garnet and Cordelia the entrance then we’ll come back and wait for trainers. Draco and Hellebores are guarding the birds. Arrow will be with you until I need to go down with a group of trainers.”
Scouting with Garnet and Cordelia was peaceful, and the three joined the group and waited. The Chatots began to stir slowly. They yawned and nudged against each other, then paused and looked around as they realized they were out of their cages. The birds chattered to each other before awkwardly flying over to a tree nearby tree, where they nestled together and softly hummed. Phoebe smiled as she waited for the other trainers to form the rescue party and get the rest of the Chatot out.

Thanks. Plus, I really wanted to do something big with the Pink Moon (including getting an evolution for one of my starters...now all three), but it ended up not happening because of work, so I really want to get that done. Plus the others have plenty of options for fun.
