Bio:
As a young member of a minor noble family in her home kingdom, she had very few prospects for her future without marriage, but she never felt a desire to marry any of the possible husbands that her family presented. Steadily growing frustrated with her parents’ insistence on marriage (with suitors that she found less and less likable), Maris decided to find a way to leave home and make her own way. She chose to save up, craft her own coat of arms, and try her own luck as a noble in the Realms. She thought that, at the very least, she could get her first Pokémon and would be able to try to make her way as a Pokémon trainer.

She rashly chose to leave with no message to her parents about her destination to keep herself from going back home, or to keep her parents from sending someone to retrieve her, knowing that she had sacrificed any remaining say she had in a future marriage by running away. She plans to send word to her parents once she establishes herself and then try to make amends. She realizes that her actions were somewhat childish and hurt her family, plus her strong disinterest in marriage or any intimate relations with men means that if she does succeed as a noble, she will need someone from her family to take up her titles after her death.

Most of the time, Maris Mab is a calm and resourceful young woman who is fairly good about listening to advice from others. However, intense emotions can easily cloud her judgement, causing her to be reckless and occasionally lash out against someone, especially if she feels that they are the reason for her negative feelings. The biggest thing that could lead to emotional distress is feeling that she is letting down someone close to her, because it reminds her of what she did to her family.

While Maris’s knowledge of Pokémon is fairly limited, she is very knowledgeable when it comes to matters of economics and is a shrewd spender and investor and is very good at focusing on long term plans and is much harder to distract from these goals by her own hotheadedness or flighty tendencies. This is because her parents did succeed in teaching her strong lessons on financial responsibility, which has left herself with the thought that as a leader (of either a Pokémon team or her own lands), she owed it to her followers to put her resources (financially, more so than emotionally) to what’s best for them. Not that her town plan wouldn’t involve designs that went along with what she thought would be cute or whimsical.

Maris is fond of things that are cute, feminine, or rare. This is reflected in the way she dresses, as well as, unfortunately, her treatment of her Pokémon. She prefers long dresses with embroidery (floral patterns are her favorite), lace, and ruffles. With her Pokémon, she often spoils her Dedenne, Hermione, blatantly over her other Pokémon, straining her and Hermione’s relationship with the other Pokémon that she trains, as they feel jealous of Hermione and slighted by their trainer for not being showered in gifts and affection nearly as much as the little shiny Pokémon.
