Just something I made for sake of myself and a few others.Do NOT review ANY of my characters without getting my permission first. As stated in a journal, if I find a review/critique of my characters and I did not give you permission to do so, I will throw a fit.
If someone else goes and asks you to review my character, you better make sure its alright with me or I'll demand said review be removed because you didn't have my permission.
This applies to EVERYONE, even friends. If you want to know more about my characters, fine by me. But unless I openly state you have permission for a review, don't do it.
That's all.
Update: I actually forgot this and a number of other items I had made were here. Naturally someone came along and made some comments which more or less reminded me that it can be best to not allow people to comment freely in specific areas. For now I'm simply blocking comments here, and removing all present comments, supportive and unsupportive.

This was made after events where people were harassing someone, not trying to help them improve their character
Calling the character and their creator a slut and a bitch in multiple videos - and without doing any sort of research or TRYING to figure out the background of the character - is not a means of helping someone improve at something.
Generally I'm someone who is very supportive of the idea of a review.
But only when its a review, not someone finding a character they dislike and tearing the owner and it apart just because they've had some sort of issue with them.Β
It caused a lot of stress and harassment.

Tbh, YinkoΒ was kind of depicted as a slut, I've seen drawings of her with multiple different people having sex if that doesn't scream slut I don't know what does. Her backstory was... bad, her apparentlyΒ nearly getting gang raped and this not nearly traumatizing her for life?...But you're not supportive of reviews, this literally says don't review my character without my permission, that doesn't sound very supportive. I haven't seen the creator of Yinko speak out about any of this, all I've seen is you saying how much it's affected her. I've looked at Yinko, and personally, I can't find any positives,Β I'm going to be blunt but: The OC is bad, really, reallyΒ bad. If someone can't take a few insults to them and their character then they shouldn't' be on a public website, if you're that sensitive then go somewhere that you can't share your opinions at all.Β

And there is where you have your issue. It is not a justified critique to call someone a bitch. It is not a justified critique to sit there and call a character nothing but trash without offering any sort of positive feedback. This entire situation spurred a lot of drama on both ends. No one offered any helpful feedback. There were people that tried, but it was not for the sake of making Yinko better. It was for making her appeal to them better.
But by any means. If you enjoy such situations, sit back and allow others to discuss something you treasure in such a manner. Harass them over their means of venting. Go after them over something they've come to rely on as a means of keeping suicidal thoughts or tenancies under control. Then, god forbid, if you have caused something terrible, enjoy being mentioned in an investigation or two, because it does happen.
Now kindly be on your way. This is a chapter of my life that is over, and you've already proven to be someone not worth discussing this with seeing as you fully support the idea of calling a character a slut just because the creator used to enjoy drawing them with more than one character.
Slut shaming in terrible is a terrible thing. To harass a character over drawing a sexually appealing character however they see fit, is a terrible thing.

Its a courtesy thing. Seriously, its messed up that people do "Reviews" on characters, then don't even bother showing the creator.

I hate when people just do so without asking. i: I didn't even get a review/critique, someone took one of like my oldest OCs that was like in the depths of my gallery AND the one I was someday gonna go back to work on, they just bashed it .-. In a big journal so everyone who was watching them could see.Β

Not getting worked up for no reason. Seeing "Reviewers" do no research on a character, then proceed to hate on them is in no way a review.
And, by saying "You do not have permission to use this" then the creator legitimately takes away the right to do something.
If an artist says "You cannot use this artwork/post it elsewhere/etc" then even if you credit them, you can get into trouble because they've not given permission to do so.
If someone wants to say something to improve my character, then they can tell it to me personally.
Not in a review I'll only find when a watcher of mine stumbles across it and sends it to me.

That is true however in reality if you are not a "Well known" artist people will do it anyway (just how it is) and im not saying that its ok but im saying its how it is.
And ok but again its not a new thing people rant all the time on youtube about anything. Β I understand that you and others may dislike it and im sorry is anyone got hurt but at the same time it happens. Β Life will never do what you want it to do or anyone else for that matter. Β

When you go out and say "I can't say anything good about the character, because the character is shit", you're doing reviews wrong (The stuff in quote was said by OCR&R when I said they can't just bash a character in a review, and that they had to say some good points)

I'd rather people take it up with me. If there's advice to give, I'd rather get it in a note or comment than find out about it when a random watcher of mine sends me a video.
I don't mind having people give me feedback. Just want it on a personal level.

Okay. I like personal feedback as well. In fact, I'd LOVE to get feedback. If anyone has a review on any of my characters, be it original or fanon (the latter not being a lot), I'd want to know what they'd have to say. As long as it helps me fix my character, I would love to hear it.

Advice is supposed to help.
The only reviews I've seen thus far (That weren't done with permission) were only there to point out everything someone hated about a character. That's not a review- because it was only hurtful.

Watching those reviews, I noticed that they actually are giving advice, or at least one of the people, specifically Miki. But I'd still love to hear either advice or just reviews.

But saying only something good about the art style, then giving advice without knowing anything about the character (Or flat out saying the character is shit) doesn't constitute as good advice, especially when the given advice is only about fixing appearance- not the actual story of the character.

Advice with fixing the appearance is a good start. BUT I'd only consider it a start, not actual advice. Advice with fixing the personality/history/both is what I would like to see more. I mean, that's what I really want.

If the appearance is specific to suit the backstory, then you need to know the backstory to know if the appearance needs fixed at all. When you give advice to fix the appearance without knowing the backstory, odds are you aren't helping the character.

Saying the ART was good doesn't make up for calling the creator a bitch, the character a slut/whore, and trash among other things. They complimented the art style- not the character, which they later called a piece of shit when I told them what a review is supposed to be for. Helping IMPROVE a character.
Saying "Don't draw sexual and don't pair with anyone" isn't helpful advice. Its telling someone to make their character to your liking.
Saying "A character needs to look like THIS to be THIS" and trying to say to change it without knowing WHY the character looks like that doesn't help.
Going out of your way to go against someones wishes then throwing a fit when people get on your arse about it just stresses everyone.
And all I did was argue. I pointed out everything they did wrong and fought others when they started saying they had the right to do something just because the felt like it.
I didn't go and send death threats, though given the way things are I personally don't believe the Dork was sent any private ones. They call the proof card for my girlfriends heart condition, I call the truth card for whatever death threats they were sent.
Now, as is, there's enough to deal with considering this group of.. 4 people now I believe, are bringing it up again when we believed we'd finally gotten everything worked out. Stop talking to me, because I can already tell you're on their side for the most part.

Since when did they call Mion a bitch? They only do that if the creator has done something bad. And actually, they don't tell anyone just "don't pair your OC with someone" an example, Chris, she made a whole new AU with Jeff and they said it was fine. Nothing more they said about it.

But it clearly explains that it has nothing to do with canon characters and takes place in an alternate universe and that's why she isn't dead.
