Made with:Β meninasuitcase.deviantart.com/β¦Things aside, a small group of friend- me included- were talking about the "Newer" design of Ticci Toby. Things being said, there isn't really any background information on what caused Toby to lose a good chunk of his face in the 2nd version of him- and I have a personal belief that if you want to change a character that dramatically, you've gotta put up an actual story about it.
Do I mind the newer version? Yes and no. I personally dislike it because it lack any real background, and even then I'd rarely use the design (Seeing as such an injury would cause a LOT of problems when you can't really feel what'll happen in the long run).
That being said. I SUPPORT THE ORIGINAL TICCI TOBY DESIGN

That one of his ideas- he hasn't made it official yet to my knowledge. But if that's the case, he's gonna need some major burns around the rest of his face.

True. Personally, I can see the original design being how he started, and the newer design the result of an injury that occurred on-the-job, since the new design looks more mature.

That's more or less how I have to view it. The newer design looks more like his cheek was gashed, or cut out. I'm more likely to believe that he had an infection which resulted in him losing a good chunk of his face, than I am to believe that burns did it.

I know. A lot of my actually thinks the newer version of Toby was done so people would be less willing to do things with him. I know it wont.
Even then though, I've heard of him even getting after people who did artwork/stories of the canon pairing- because they messed up on something.

Yeah, there is. If you've seen any pictures of him where he's missing I think his left cheek, which leaves his gums exposed, that's the new version.

The description says he either got burnt from the fire or he needs to make a part 2 on how he got it.

Either way, there is no storyline behind how he got the injury. AND, if he did get it during the fire, he'll need to re-write a good chunk of Toby's story.

Very true, plus, a burn can't do that much damage. Sure, you might say that, but it can't completely get rid of the skin, flesh and tissue.

Yeah, burns don't do that. Only explanation would be that he was burned, the burn got infected, and the surrounding tissue had to be removed. Even then- where would the scorch marks on his face be???

Very true. It would of gave him tooth disease too. What happens if the fire burnt the whole cheek? He's teeth and gums will get burnt and infected too.

Original Ticci-Toby for days. Come on many people love how Toby looks why why change him? He looks fine by me being normal.

I have 1 major beef with the newer version: 1. There is no story behind the wound. The creator doesn't even know exactly how Toby got in himself.
As an added note, a lot of me believes that it was done to reduce the appeal in portraying Toby in a romantic sense.

Mmm true people do like drawing Toby in romance scenes or cute stuff. I personally like it, if it wasn't for Sapphirethiss I won't know who Toby was. Plus he looks cute in pictures where I liked him (as a character). ^.^

True, but you can still draw Toby where he looks scary, and in a dark environment. I seen some that make him look creepy without having to make a big change like changing his looks.

His attire itself can be creepy, you just need to use the proper elements. Add red stains, blood. Draw him crying. You don't need to mutilate his face.

Another thing that I noticed is that every now and again someone likes to be rude and point out that Toby (Like the Tobi from Naruto) isn't childish, but a HUGE friggen dick.
