Description “I'm not just a creature… More than a simple feature… I'll stand in waiting until you can't see me… I know why I stand here… There's a need for your fear… I'll be here waiting until you grow weary…”

Peering through the bars that blocked his way into the cell before him, his golden eyes locked onto the frame of the man who lay sleeping inside. This was one of them. One of the men who had broken into his house that night. One of the men who defiled him and his family, and left all he cared about dead. Golden eyes shined brightly with the emotions boiling behind them. This was one of the men who killed him. One of the men who killed his younger sister, and did all those disgusting things to her. The man behind the bars would not live to see sunrise…

“I'm not the crazed killer… You think I am… I'm just here ready to see vengeance through… Hatred, bloodlust… They're all, irrelevant to… The moment when my jaws, close down on you…”

No sound came from him as he extended a metal clad hand to grasp the bars. He was tempted to yank on them. To shake and rattle them so that the man behind the bars would awake and see him. He wouldn’t do so, though. There were too many around. Too many to witness the gory scene that was about to take place. He did not need to want to have to deal with them. His purpose was to avenge the murder of him and his family. Not to destroy the lives of people those whose crimes he did not know. A nearly silent hiss passed his lips as he lowered his hand and stepped away from the cell. He needed to get in without causing a ruckus…

“You… It’s you… It’s you… And me…”

His footsteps were surprisingly silent as he walked down the halls. The cool feel of the concrete floor against his bare feet did nothing to calm him. If anything, it hurt. He didn’t understand why, but the chill of the floor seemed to sting. To him it was as if he was walking on ice, and he hated it. Perhaps it was the sting of the floor that made him feel so agitated? No. That definitely wasn’t true. Anyone who had experienced death, only to be revived and put in a place where they could look their murderers dead in the face, would be agitated. The cold floor irritated him – it made him more alert – but it wasn’t why he wanted to enact revenge on the man in the cell. Nor was it why he intended on hunting down the other two who had ended his original life…

“You've done such a bad thing… So while you're still breathing… I'd like to make you wait in darkness… I've been given life now… So I'm taking you out… You were my problem and I'm going to solve this…”

Eventually he came to stand in a doorway. There was a guard in the room keeping track of the cameras. Had he seen him? No. No, he couldn’t have. If he had, he would have left the room to look for him. Or he would have contacted other guards and told them to seek him out. Silently, he stood there and contemplated his next move. Was there any point in stealth? Surely he had only been revived to avenge his family. He would return to death once they were dealt with, right? If that was true, then no consequences would come of being caught. None that would keep him from fulfilling his task, at least. What would they do if they spotted him? They would lock him up. No use would come of that though. He would escape and resume his purpose. He didn’t care if the guard noticed him when he stepped into the room to retrieve the keys. Though, he was faintly surprised that the man didn’t turn around when he snatched them…

“I'm not the crazed killer… You think I am… I'm just here ready to see vengeance through… Hatred, bloodlust… They're all, irrelevant to… The moment when my jaws, close down on you…”

With keys in hand, he left the room and ventured back to the cell of the man. Only when he peered through the bars once more, was he aware of the presence that had been following him. His attention snapped to the frame that had been with him from the moment of his revival. The being that had been revived alongside him – but left unnoticed until it was ready to be known. The intense agitation he had been feeling up to that point, lessened immensely as recognition glowed behind his golden orbs. Calmed by the beast he saw, he knelt and dropped a hand to allow it to climb onto him. The creature did not hesitate when it approached him. Nor was he bothered by its weight as it came to rest atop his shoulders. He had not expected his beloved pet to be revived along with him. However, he rejoiced the return of his companion. Many would panic at the sight of a snake that size. He was not among that rank. Right now, nothing could put him more at ease than the presence of his beloved Burmese python. The albino snake seemed to give off an aura that portrayed the same feelings…

“You… It’s you… It’s you… And me…”

Being reunited with his dear friend would not be enough to coax him out of fulfilling his task. Granted, the serpent didn’t seem interested in leaving the prison. If anything, he seemed intent on helping his master do away with those who had harmed him. Within moments of climbing atop the man, the snake worked his head through the bars to portray his intention of doing away with the man. He needn’t be coaxed into unlocking the cell. The python needn’t be instructed to follow, for he traveled ahead of his master to climb into the bed of the man. A sense of anxiety overtook him as he watched his pet draw ever near to the man who had taken part in his murder. Not because he feared the man may way. The anxiety came with the recognition of his scarred face, and the memories that came with it. The man sleeping soundly in bed was the one who had destroyed the serpent. The snake had bitten him in an attempt to protect his master, and had been brutally torn in two. He had been forced to watch the inhumane deaths of his pet, and his younger sibling, before he was dealt the same fate. The memories plagued him like a wound that refused to heal. He would use them to fuel his actions…

“Never forgive… Never forget… Don't close your eyes… It's not over yet…”

A pained sound suddenly left the man, and it took him a moment to realize why he had awoken so suddenly. The python had bitten him. He sank his teeth into the same place that he had the night of his murder. The serpent intended on dishing out as much pain as possible as payback for being ripped in two. The anxiety grew within him as the fear that the man’s screams might attract unwanted attention. He intently prayed to whatever had revived him, that the man would fall silent. Imagine his surprise when the scream was cut short, despite the man’s mouth being ajar and breath escaping him. He knew not that it was his will that had silenced the man, and so he mentally thanked the being that seemed to have answered his prayers. His will kept the man silent as he struggled to pry the serpent’s jaws from his face. He did not allow it. He would not allow this man to get away or harm his beloved pet again. His metal clad hands grasped those of the man and he slammed them onto the bed with enough force to break bone. This is no figure of speech. The sheer grip of his hands, clad in the metal gauntlets he had worn when he was killed, was more than enough to crush the brittle bones of the man’s fingers. He could hear the crackling of the bones when they gave way to his grip. He felt the need to cringe at the sound, but held firm…

“We used to play… We used to laugh… And now we're trapped… Like a photograph…”

He restrained the thrashing man while he watched as the python swallowed his head. He observed the blood that ran down the struggling male’s face, but felt no sympathy. This man deserved the pain for what he had done. This was an act of the old law. An eye for an eye – pain for pain. Death, for death. Someone in a nearby sell hit the wall and uttered a demand of silence. For a moment he feared he may be seen, but that fear faded away when the serpent proceeded to coil around his prey. Arms and legs were easily restrained by the python’s long and dangerously strong body. The snake held the man in such a way that it left his chest and midsection exposed, in one sense of the word. He knew not if his companion had been capable of sensing his intentions, or if he was coaxing him into going through with them. Either way, there was no hesitation when he set out to recreate his memories. Or rather, recreate the memories he had the resolve to act upon…

“I've come so far… From the child inside… Remember my face… And jaws behind…”

Blood poured onto the bedding as he dug his metal clad hands into the man’s abdomen. He ignored the foul smell that came from the gaping wound as he ripped the flesh and entrails apart. All around seemed painfully silent, to the point that all he could hear were the sounds of blood dripping onto tile. That, and the disturbing sound he could compare to hastily hand mixing hamburger meat and water in a bowl. Then came what sounded like meat being dropped onto a marble countertop. Without the screams to drown everything out, he was able to learn what it wounded like to be disemboweled by hand. Was this how it would have sounded had they gagged him when they had done this to him? No. The sounds he heard were of blood and discarded flesh falling onto a concrete floor in a prison cell. He had been on a heavily carpeted floor in the living room of his own home when this had been done to him…

“I'm not the crazed killer… You think I am… I'm just here ready to see vengeance through… Hatred, bloodlust… They're all, irrelevant to… The moment when my jaws close down on you…”

In time the body he tore at began to fall still. He pulled his blood-soaked hands from the crater he had created in the man’s abdomen, and waited while his pet expelled his head. Blood and saliva formed a sticky slime that coated everything from the male’s neck to his hair. He listened silently while the man coughed and spat out blood, before he moved a hand to his neck. In a swift but violent movement, he tore clean through the flesh of the man’s neck. He cut the wind pipe in two and watched while his murderer turned victim died of the wounds that had been dealt onto him. The python continued to restrain the fatally injured male until all movement ceased. Then he slithered off of the bed, only to return to his place around his master’s shoulders…

“You… It’s you… It’s you… And me… You… It’s you… It’s you… And me…”

The gate of the cell was left ajar when the pair left the scene. The remaining two that they had yet to destroy, would be sought out another day. He wanted to leave them with a sense of fear and the knowledge that he could return for them. He had left a bloody inscription on the cell walls before finding his way out of the prison...
“One of three… Never forget what has transpired. This is the consequence of the acts that were committed on Halloween night.
Snakeman-Jack.”
