Prologue
(Y/N) couldn't help but smile as she gazed upon the rusted chain she clasped in her hands. “Soon”, she thought. Soon the chains would be cut, and the gates to the long abandoned carnival would be opened. Once that happened, she and her workers would be free to go inside. As it was, the town was boring and gloomy. Money had started to run low, and in an act of desperation the city counsel decided to restore the towns abandoned carnival- which in turn would hopefully attract tourists. Tourists would get the flow of money started again, and then maybe the economy would get better. Granted, the carnival was just one of a few places being fixed in hopes of saving the town. A zoo was being reopened, as was a museum. Three places being restored to their former glory for the sake of attracting more people to the area.

Of these three places, she'd been lucky enough to be assigned to the carnival. Not as a construction worker, but as an artist. Her job was to restore the beauty to any of the attractions she could. She was one of well over forty artists there with that very intention. They were to evenly distribute their talent through the carnival. The wide variety of art styles and variations would make it more attractive to onlookers. She sighed quietly as she dropped the chain, letting it collide with the metal gate with a “Clink”. As it were, she was thrilled to be working on this location. She'd always loved carnivals and fairs. Being able to help with the recreation of one was a dream come true. Granted, she still had to wait for a little while. As it was, before she and the artists could start painting, all of the construction had to be completed. The area needed to be safe for them to work.

Hopeful that the upcoming weeks would be prosperous, she wipe the rust off of her hands before she walked back to her car. She'd be called when it was time to go in and do her job, until then she could only stand on the sidelines and watch as the carnival was worked on. Smiling, she cast a final look towards the gates as she stepped into her car. She was happy. Overjoyed even, for this opportunity. She had high hopes for the carnival, and for the town. She couldn't help but think about how much good this would do for everyone as she proceeded to drive away.
