Chapter Nine

(Y/N) didn't say anything as she knelt beside to pair to offer the medicine. She wasn't surprised to find that the calmer of the two extended his hand to take it from her. Just as she'd done in the past, she handed him the pills before stepping away to let them do their business in private. She didn't quite understand why, but for some reason they didn't like it when others saw their faces. So, they wouldn't eat, drink, or take medication unless she wasn't looking at them. They were willing to let her sit in the same room as them while they ate, but she had to face a wall. Given her job, it was considered beyond foolish for her to willingly turn her back on two known killers for an extended period of time, but of all her patients they were the least likely to kill her. As far as she knew, they didn't go after anyone unless Slenderman gave them the instruction. She'd made it seven years without doing anything to provoke any of her patients into trying to kill her. The incident with Eyeless Jack was more him being prepared to attack her in hopes of not being sent to the medical ward. Given that he stated he hadn't wanted to harm her, it was safe to assume the odds of him attacking her again were slim. In case of the proxies, unless Slenderman decided to give them word to do away with her, they weren't going to attack her.

Before long, the familiar sound of them tapping their empty glass caught her attention. That was how they let her know it was safe to look. They made a loud noise so she'd turn around. When she turned to look at them, she wasn't surprised to find them staring at her from behind their masks. They didn't say anything, but the bolder of the pair held out the empty glass of water for her to take. She did so, but rather than take it back to the kitchen she dropped it off at the desk on her way to retrieve her basket. Since everything seemed to have calmed down, she thought it best to get to work. She figured it would be a good idea to explain why she'd been so late, as well.

"Sorry I'm late.. There were a couple of issues with the others." (Y/N) said awkwardly as she moved to take a seat at the desk, so she could fill out her paperwork a little bit easier. Given she had to do double the forms in this room, she preferred to sit. They didn't say anything in response, which wasn't a response. As it was, they had yet to get up. They probably wanted to calm down a little more before getting up and moving around.
"Eyeless Jack has been having some stomach trouble. I failed to realize that the food he was being given didn't agree with his stomach, so... I almost didn't get to stay your caretaker." She added as she pulled all the paper off of the clipboard so she could get to work on it. Again, the pair said nothing in response- but they did react. She didn't notice because her eyes were transfixed on the forms, but the duo seemed to tense a bit at her words. They understood what she was talking about. She hadn't flat out said it, but they knew she meant Eyeless Jack had attacked her.
"I'm alright though. Everything was sorted out, and soon Eyeless will be on a diet more suited to his needs." She stated as she began to carefully fill out the paperwork. Double the forms, double the information, and double the attention. She had to make sure she didn't accidentally mix the information. If she did, she'd have to go back to the break room to grab fresh forms, then fill everything out all over again. Her words were met with more silence, save for the quiet sounds of the pair moving to their feet. She forced a quiet laugh past her lips in an attempt to lighten the mood.
"Then some stuff happened with Slenderman. He got upset because the med staff took an unscheduled tissue sample during his physical. If my coworker hadn't been there, he'd of probably been quarantined for a while.." (Y/N) said awkwardly, purposely leaving out how Slenderman behaved once the physical was over. She didn't want to somehow give them the impression that he wanted her dead. Better safe than sorry when dealing with his servants. They didn't say anything in response to what she said, which was what she expected, but they did do something that caught her off guard. She hadn't noticed at first, but when their shadows appeared on the desk she realized they'd walked around to stand behind her. Honestly, that made her nervous- but she didn't turn to look at them. Instead, she forced as much of her focus onto the paperwork as she could. Of course, that was difficult to do considering she could see their every movement via their shadows. They seemed to whisper to each other while standing surprisingly close to her. Aside from when she was handing over medicine- and of course during the physicals- they never stood close to her. Just like it had with Slenderman, their sudden change in behavior succeeded in making her extremely uncomfortable. Albeit, she was less uncomfortable with the proxies than she had been with their master, but she still felt on edge. Getting her paperwork done became quite a struggle at that point, but she managed.

They didn't do anything while she worked- not anything worth noting anyways. She could tell they were talking to each other because of how close the heads of their shadows were to each other. They raised their arms a bit from time to time, and at one point it seemed as if one of them was reaching out to touch her. The expected contact never came though, so it became apparent that it was just her misjudging the movements of their shadows. They remained behind her until she finished with all of the paperwork, and even as she put everything into her basket they remained in place. She didn't know why, but for some unknown reason, they were keen on observing her. She convinced herself it was them being curious as to what information she was putting on the paper. Of course, she'd had to note that one of them had suffered a panic attack as result of her being late. She also had to write down a time estimate of how long it took the medication to kick in and calm him down. Aside from that, it was just the usual tidbits of information. Emotional state of the patients upon arrival, state of the room, did anything need repaired, and other such things. At least a third of the paperwork revolved around the state of the room and the equipment. The remaining papers revolved around the patients, and any supplies that might be needed for their care.

That was the basis of what she had to do as far as daily paperwork went. A small stack of forms, per patient, per room. A lot of it never even needed filled out, considering they didn't blatantly lash out at their surroundings. She just filled out what needed done, and turned everything in when it was due. They remained behind her even after it became obvious that she'd finished with her paperwork. By then, she had no idea how to go about doing things. Luckily for her, she didn't need too. The pair seemed to have devised a plan already. She flinched when a gloved hand suddenly came into her view, and for a split second she fell into a pure state of panic. However, she found herself releasing a sigh of relief when said hand simply snatched her pen from the inside of her basket. What came next was, something odd and unexpected, but not at all as bad as she thought it would be. The pair moved closer so that they stood directly behind her on either side. The one standing to her left- Hoodie, as he preferred to be called- removed a few papers from her basket and placed them on the table. He set them down with the blank side facing up, so she didn't need to think hard to guess that they were going to speak with her through writing. Despite being a little unnerved by how much closer they'd gotten to her, she could understand there was no danger.

Once there were a few papers on the table, another hand reached over her right shoulder. The owner of said hand, was Masky. He was the weaker of the pair, seeing as he was the one suffering from anxiety, as well as epilepsy. Based on the information, it was believed that Masky was born epileptic. The anxiety issues, were more a result of what he'd been put through at the hands of his previous caretakers, and the medical experiments performed on him. Hoodie held the pen while Masky made sure the paper wouldn't move while the other wrote on it. (Y/N) watched intently as the words were neatly etched onto the surface of the paper. For how quickly he was able to write, the woman was surprised at how easy the words were to read. She hadn't known it prior, but as it was, Hoodie seemed to know cursive. She read the words as he spelled them out, and she found herself being a little surprised at what was written.

'Did Eyeless Jack hurt you?'

Honestly, that was probably one of the last things she could think of them asking her. She expected them to be trying to"Talk" to her about Slenderman, not to be checking in to see if Eyeless Jack had harmed her in his attack. When Hoodie finished writing, he set down the pen and moved his hand away from it as a sign for her to reply. Seeing as she didn't need to write to communicate with them, she opted to just talk.

"No, he just scared me a bit... I'm all here, if that makes any sense." (Y/N) said in a somewhat awkward tone of voice. She gave a bit of a joke at the end, referring to how Eyeless Jack preferred to eat the organs of his victims. From her perspective it was a terrible joke, but she just wanted to try and lighten the mood. After she gave her response, Hoodie slid the pen towards Masky, who in turn began to write. She assumed from there that they'd be taking turns questioning her. She watched intently as Masky wrote his question, noting that his handwriting was actually more pleasing to the eye than that of his counterpart. From her perspective, it reminded her of the more Shakespearean type of cursive. Whatever it was, it seemed fancy compared to that of the hooded proxy. When he finished writing, he set down the pen and moved his hand to the side. She read it.

'There's blood on the back of your neck. It's in your hair too.'

(Y/N)'s eyebrows furrowed in confusion upon reading what Masky had written, before she raised a hand to reach around and grab her ponytail. They shifted away slightly while she examined her hair, and to her disbelief she found a spot where her hair was matted. She scraped her nails against the knots, and sure enough the familiar brownish substance that was dried blood peppered her fingertips. She couldn't see it, but her skin paled ever so slightly at the sight of it. Not because she was bothered by blood, but because she hadn't noticed she was hurt. For a moment, she struggled to find the right words to say before she firmly set her hands on the table and took a deep breath.

"Please, excuse me for a moment so I can go and, assess the damage." (Y/N) uttered through a tight jaw, using precise wording that made it clear she wanted to see how serious her wound might be. To her relief, the pair stepped away so that she could get out from in front of the desk, before Hoodie seemed to motion towards the door leading to the bedroom. She didn't know if he was offering to let her use their bathroom, but even if they didn't it was the closest location and she intended on inspecting herself as soon as possible. She calmly, but briskly stepped past the desk, before walking past Masky to make her way into their room. They didn't do anything to try and stop her, so she assumed they didn't mind her using their bathroom mirror to check her back. She quickly made her way into their bedroom, then into the bathroom once she spotted the door leading to it. She didn't even notice the state of the proxies bedroom she was so focused on looking at her back. Once in the bathroom, she shut the door before hastily tugging at the buttons of her top to undo her shirt. Once that was done, she shrugged out of the fabric, then contemplated removing her bra. Given that it was the same color as her shirt, she didn't see much point in taking it off.

Blood didn't show on black clothing. With her decision made, she moved to stand in front of the mirror. She turned so that her back was facing it, and after pulling her ponytail out of the way she turned her head to the side to look at the mirror through the corner of her eye. She was, disturbed by what she saw. Not appalled, just disturbed. There was dried blood smeared along her spine. From the looks of it, the substance had pooled there a bit before being smeared. There was a spot that held a scab, and given its location, she could assume it had been caused by Eyeless Jack's knife. He had pressed the tip of the blade into her skin with the intention of killing her, after all. She couldn't really say she had the right to be surprised that she was hurt. He had nicked her a bit with the tip of his knife, and given how panicked she had been she just hadn't felt it. He likely hadn't even noticed that he had harmed her, given how distressed she had made him while trying to talk him out of killing her. Upon seeing that her wounds weren't nearly as bad as she feared they might be, (Y/N) set out to clean herself up so she could put her shirt back on. She hunted down a washcloth, then wet it in the sink so she could wash off her back. She stood with her back facing the mirror, and watched her reflection so she could make sure all the blood was wiped off.

Once her back was cleaned up, she rinsed off and wrung out the washcloth before draping it over the sink. Then, she retrieved her shirt and calmly put it back on. When she was better dressed, she calmly stepped out of the bathroom, then made her way back to the main room where the proxies were waiting for her. Again, she didn't pay their room any mind as she passed through it. So, she didn't notice the pieces of paper that littered the floor...

Yeah, all of em are held captive. I think later on, when I need to introduce temporary characters, I'll see if my watchers want themselves or their OC's in.
Only real rule is you have to be OKAY if you're characters are abused, or if "You" get hurt or die.

Wow! That'll be really interesting!^^
Well if they want their OCs in your story they have to deal with the consequences with it.
And it's alright if the reader dies as long as the story is satisfying; I'm fine with it.
