An attendant walks by to check if you have your seatbelt fastened. Once you have done so, she starts the safety message.
Een: "Welcome aboard flight 201 to the Kituen Isles! I am Een, I'll be your head attendant for this flight. Because this is a small aircraft, as you have noticed, we have to maintain a very delicate balance of weight while we are in flight. We ask that you remain in your seat for the entire flight; should you need to use the bathroom, please call a flight attendant to take your seat. This aircraft has two exits; the one you came in through and one at the rear of the plane. In the event of a crash, please calmly exit using one of the exits. Our flight duration should be approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. Thank you for flying with us."
During the flight, you will have the opportunity to ask three questions to any of the attendants on the plane.

I raise my hand shyly, used to school. When one of them addresses me, I ask, "Are we going to have the opportunity to visit any island we want or are we restricted to certain islands once we arrive?

The nearest attendant to you is Vyf.
Vyf: "You'll be able to go anywhere in the Kituen Isles that has been deemed open to tourists; that is, the islands you see on the map that is provided. And you will need to have the appropriate guide to the island that you are wishing to go to."

I nod, then settle back into my seat. I then realize I'm fairly curious about the Sovyms and where to find them, and ask for Junak. "Excuse me, Junak? Vyf told me that you were the one to go to if I wanted a Sovym? Where exactly would we locate one?"

((WOOPS gosh I'm terrible at details OTL))
Yet again, I am embarrassed beyond belief. Not having any clue what to ask otherwise, I settle down into my seat. "When is the plane going to land? I'm itching to go out and look around." Where I might not make such ridiculous mistakes. heh

Vyf: "Actually, we're here." The plane angles downward and begins its descent.
You have officially arrived at the airfield in the grassy midlands of Soran. A welcoming crew meets you as you disembark from the aircraft. There is a man waiting for you at the bottom of the stairway. βWelcome to Soran! I have a number of people waiting behind me who can take you to a different part of Kitue to explore. But first I need to know; which direction do you wish to travel?β
Please choose one of the following: North/Northeast/Northwest/East. Or, if you have a particular guide in mind, choose them.

Junak lumbers across the field and returns with a xoal-drawn cart. There are several other items in the back, but Junak shoves them to the side and spreads out some straw for you to sit on.
Junak: "Here y'are. Go on, get'up then an' we'll be off."

((lol totes fine ^^ Let's just say Junak overlooked it too))
I hop up with a flutter of my wings, settling in. I'm brimming with excitement at this, though it would likely be less...vigourous than my last expedition where I managed to bring Pip my Thontor home. Sovyms were quite a bit smaller, though who knew?

The road to the coast is a windy one, but luckily it's pretty smooth. Junak whistles as he drives the old xoal, who plods along contently. It takes you about an hour to get to a creaky, handmade dock that juts out into the Reza, pinned in place by a tall, still growing tree. Junak asks for your assistance in loading things from the cart into a small boat at the end of the dock. Once the cart is empty, he unhitches the xoal and sends her off; she moves off the sand and starts grazing. Junak walks down the dock one more time, humming this time. You are supposed to follow.

I follow eagerly, my tail waving back and forth with excitement. I inhale the ocean scent deeply, loving every bit, looking over my shoulder at the Xoal to smile at her, though she's busy with her grass.

SpringsofIyore In reply to lizziecat1279 [2013-03-24 03:06:52 +0000 UTC]
Junak settles you into the mid section of the boat, with your back against his supplies. His hum has turned into a song, loud and clear (unlike his regular voice). He pushes the boat away from the dock and throws several ropes with loops at the end into the water, which appears to be churning.
Do you stay in your seat in the middle of the boat, or do you lean to either side to see what's going on?
π: 0 β©: 1
lizziecat1279 In reply to SpringsofIyore [2013-03-24 04:44:47 +0000 UTC]
Smiling, I listen to his song. For a bit I'm content to just sit here like a good girl, but, impatient, I lean over a little to the port side of the boat to see what's going on in the water just a bit better.

SpringsofIyore In reply to lizziecat1279 [2013-03-24 21:06:25 +0000 UTC]
As soon as you lean over the side of the boat, you get a faceful of water from a playful yellow delsi, who was just waiting for you to investigate. It splashes you one more time, then joins the rainbow of other delsi grabbing onto the ropes. Junak continues singing and soon you are literally bouncing over the waves, speeding towards the northern island. When the beach comes into view, Junak stops singing and the delsi drop the ropes, suddenly disinterested, and swim away. The boat coasts up to a similarly-made dock as the last one; Junak ties the rope and extends his hand to you.

"Woah how cool!" I exclaim after laughing and spluttering at the water in my face. I watch the delsi with delight, until they swim away. I grab his hand and use my wings to help my jump up to the dock. I turn to Junak, a grin on my face, "That was really awesome! Where did you learn to do that?

Junak: "Learn wut? The singin'? Erryone on the islands knows tha' the delsi like th' singin'." He grabs a few bundles from the back of the boat and hauls them to the beach. He repeats the actions until everything is out. He throws a tarp over them and turns back to you. "They'll be fine until I ge' back. Now, we need t' get t' finding them sovyms. We'll head nor' a little bi' more; there's a bit of a wetlan' there tha' they like to hide in."

"Oh I see! Obviously I didn't grow up here," I admit sheepishly, though that was obvious by the fact that I flew a plane to get here. Geez sometimes I should think before I said the obvious things! "Alright then let's head out? I'm not quite sure which way is north so you'll have to lead the way!"

SpringsofIyore In reply to lizziecat1279 [2013-03-28 23:15:06 +0000 UTC]
You begin your walk beside Junak; he is easily able to pick trails out among the grasses and short bushes. Soon the ground becomes squishy and water starts to appear in small pockets. The grasses get longer and air smells like salt. Junak finds a higher piece of ground, above the bog, and crouches down, pointing into the grasses.
Junak: "I see some o'dem righ' in there. There's a bluish lookin' one, two greenish lookin' ones and a silver one."

Junak: "A'right! Now you jus' have to attract it!" Junak pulls an assortment of things out of a pocket in his pants. There is a wrinkly cherry, a feather and a bit of qhim hair.
What do you use to attract the sovym and how do you use it?
π: 0 β©: 1
lizziecat1279 In reply to SpringsofIyore [2013-03-30 05:17:29 +0000 UTC]
I take the feather, admiring it for its bright color. I had a feeling it would be more noticeable then a bit of fur and a cherry, since sovyms mostly ate fish. I hold it up in the sun just over my head, turning it back and forth in the hope that the feather's iridescence will catch the light just right to be attractive to the creature.
π: 0 β©: 1
SpringsofIyore In reply to lizziecat1279 [2013-04-03 03:45:07 +0000 UTC]
(Late reply is late, my apologies.)
The flickering light off the feather does catch the sovym's attention; it stares at you, not quite sure what to do. It looks a little frightened actually. The silver one panics and dives into the water, closely followed by one of the green ones. The blue one looks like it's waiting for your next action before deciding.
In the meantime, Junak has gotten hungry and has eaten the cherry.

lizziecat1279 In reply to SpringsofIyore [2013-04-03 05:40:23 +0000 UTC]
(totally fine <3)
I lower the feather and extend my other hand outwards, gently calling it, keeping my voice soft and my stance non-aggressive. Maybe it only worked with cats and dogs, but there was no harm in trying right? I keep the feather gripped in my hand.

SpringsofIyore In reply to lizziecat1279 [2013-04-10 05:03:32 +0000 UTC]
The sovym cocks it's head to the side, but doesn't move closer to you.
Junak: "Here, try a ch'rry." You are unsure about what he means; if you should each it or offer it to the sovym. The cherry waits in his extended hand.
π: 0 β©: 1
lizziecat1279 In reply to SpringsofIyore [2013-04-10 06:31:49 +0000 UTC]
Doubting that he would give me something that wouldn't directly relate to capturing the sovym, I take the cherry with a small thank you and hold it out to the sovym. He was only kept out longer the more time I took, though for all I knew he could have liked it. My hope now was that the sovym would take a liking to the cherry, which I lower to the ground though I keep it in my hand.
π: 0 β©: 1
SpringsofIyore In reply to lizziecat1279 [2013-04-10 06:59:01 +0000 UTC]
The sovym tentatively comes forward; it slips into the water and makes its way towards you. It reaches out and quickly grabs the cherry from your hand, munching on its sweetness. Once it was done, pit and all, it returns to you, looking for another one.
π: 0 β©: 1
lizziecat1279 In reply to SpringsofIyore [2013-04-11 02:21:17 +0000 UTC]
I barely manage to squelch the squee rising inside of me, instead looking to Junak. I lower my voice a little to avoid scaring the sovym before asking him if he has any more cherries. "The little thing seems to like them."
π: 0 β©: 1
SpringsofIyore In reply to lizziecat1279 [2013-04-14 03:57:42 +0000 UTC]
Junak passes you what remains of the bag of cherries, there's only two left. Once you have the bag in your hand, the sovym doesn't wait. It climbs up on your lap and sticks its nose in the bag to grab the last two cherries. After finishing the cherries, it curls up on your lap.
Junak: "Tha's the secret with sovyms: fed'm an' there yours. She's a beaut t'."
Junak gets up and escorts you back to Soran; the sovym eagerly following you. Once back at the village, Junak explains how traveling home with your new friend will go, she'll have to ride in the hold with the other creatures.
This signifies the end of your Expedition! Thank you for participating, your new friend will join the Springs when the plane returns to the mainland.

I grumble as I step into the small airport. I've always hated flying, especially when the plane takes off. But it was the only way to get to the islands.
I make my way to the ticket desk and ring the small bell sitting on the counter, although the person behind the desk was looking straight at me.
"Hullo,"I say, smiling. "I'm Bramble, I'm here to check in for the flight."

The ticket agent greets you and hands you your boarding pass. βBoarding begins at 15:30 MT March 7; the flight will leave at 14:00 MT March 8. Make sure youβre on board!β
Itβs a quick jaunt through security then out on to the tarmac towards the plane. Itβs a small aircraft, requiring only a small staircase to get to the door. The ticket agent suggests that you talk to one of the attendants once you've boarded about a distraction for take off.

I climb up the small staircase and onto the plane. Looking around, I see that I am the first one here, but soon the plane begins filling up. I pull out a small puzzle game that I used to distract myself. It would be a good way to avoid the stomach dropping sensation of the plane taking off.

Drie: "Hello, Een said you were wondering about ghigers? I have a couple of friends on the islands who have trapped ghigers before. Kaiga and Rean. They're both women, but very different from each others. Is there anything else I can help you with?"
