I love how your anatomy tells me; "unicorn". It has a graceful resemblance of an ungulate. I prefer the goat-like over the horsey unis, but this one really is its own specie.
It's eye is so expressive. So sad. You've truly captured its dying breath.

Such a tragedy. Very clever with the overhead scavengers.

Well, in medieval times their horn was believed be be magical, and the animal itself a rare and a powerful status-symbol itself so if they would exist, they would probably be popular prey especially for nobility.
One of the most famous pieces of medieval art does picture of hunting of a unicorn (not sure if it was ever really attempted, but there was strict rules for unicorn hunting, including the famous virgin girl for "bait"): [link]
Thanks.

Thank you. Glad that you liked this so much, but this was done for a friend so if youΒ΄re using this as reference for your tattoo, IΒ΄d appreciate it if youΒ΄d make it look a bit different instead of making a straight out copy. Using it as a inspiration though is fine.

Wow, your traditional work is amazing, with all the grass blades and hair detail! What part of this is watercolor?

Thank you. I Always almost lose my mind when doing grass... how something so simple can be diffucult? Most of the bottom layers are all watercolour... I used pencils to fur, details and grass.

Watercolor for base layers, pencils for details... that's a great idea! With beautiful results. I know how you feel--I hate backgrounds and find them very frustrating, even though grass/trees/etc. SHOULD be easy, since I see so much of it every day...
Oh well, that is why I practice.

Poor unicorn. It got away from the captors only to lie dying in the grass. It's a wonderful picture despite how sad it is. Beautifully powerful job!

Aw, thank you. I doΒ΄t know why sad/melancholy scenarios appeal to me somehow...
I think itΒ΄s still some kind of victory to the unicorn that they did not capture him alive after all.

Don't worry, I like the sad stuff too (even though my art doesn't show it often.) Yay unicorn! Maybe a fairy will come by and heal him of his wounds.
