Description
This past weekend, my family and I decided to take Josh on a day trip to Vancouver BC (Canada) and we visited the Capilano suspension bridge. We were on our way back over the bridge to the gift shop and I decided that I wanted a perspective photo of the bridge. Josh had already started walking over it, so I took the photo with him, thinking I could always edit him out if I needed to. Best thing was that when I looked at the photo, I found that it was much better with him in it than without. I scaled it to grey, boosted the whites and darkened the blacks a bit, and added negative space to enhance the visible area. I'm happy- mostly because Josh likes it.Related content

Hehe yeah, the first time I went (a couple of years ago), there were a lot more people, but this day, it was kinda cold and drizzly. Apparently, some people just don't seem to like that kind of weather. Odd, no?
Thanks.

Thank you, Stefan! I was so surprised to see this- it actually took me a while to really register that I'd gotten a DD. I was like, "Why do I have so many views all of a sudden?"
Thanks again.

#Trivia? It's been a few weeks since I really visited, but that's the dAmn room I visit most.

Hehe I'm glad you like it, and I'm flattered to know that it's appreciated by people in the area- residents of a particular spot always being the harshest critics of any representation of that place, of course. Thank you!!

This is a really awesome shot. It caught my eye right away. I'm not a big black and white fan, but I feel it really works well with this piece. I love the perspective of this. That's one looooooong bridge. I really does look as if it is going to go into the sun. Really brilliant work!

Hehe well, I've found that while colors work very well with things that are vibrant but don't have much of a light/dark balance, black and white works very well for photos that do. And of course, once transferred, it needs to undergo a lot of contrast-upping to make it more interesting to the eye. But anyways, yes, while there are some crappier pieces out there in this mode, b/w photos can be really quite nice sometimes, provided you give it enough punch.
Thank you!

Yeah, it seems there are a lot of photos of places like Chicago, or my own city (Seattle), or New York, etc. It's kinda nice to get a photo that's in a less-known place.
Thank you!

SqueakingShoeless In reply to i-mage [2005-10-10 20:32:10 +0000 UTC]
Hehe well, I've found that b/w is a good choice for a lot of photos, but that depends more on the elements in it. A good black-white will emphasis lighting while photos with more color but less light/dark contrast is better in color.
Thank you!

Josh likes your comment. He says that obviously, you are the only one who has seen fit to focus on the correct part of the photo- him.
Thank you!

I like the white space, and all the black, it just gives it that "gooing towards the light...." feel.
Great picture. I'm glad Josh (even though I don't know who he is) likes it. And half of DA too! xD

Hehe well I wish I had that kind of time for dA, but school just steals me away so much, you know?
It's fun to deal with all this, but if I had to do it constantly, I think I'd die.

Aw, I really don't have the kind of time. I'm really bad. Our school system gave us laptops, so I found a way to get on DA... So, I get on here when I should be working online.
Hehe. Yeah. I had that kinda realization when I posted something in the forum once.

I see- I used to log into dA all the time in the middle of class and my teachers had no idea.
Yep. It's funny actually- I posted a thread on popularity preference way back in... June or July, about what kind of stats the average deviant would prefer. And it's still alive. I don't know quite how to explain where I was going with that, but I thought it was kinda odd when I got the DD.
