His only remaining squadmate latched a magazine of incendiary shells into his shotgun, charging forward into the tunnel to keep the bulk of the monsters back.
A haunting figure strode into the firelight, gripping the crushed helmet of a comrade, hungry whispers from its gaping maw damning them all.

Metro 2033 - Don't Forget

More survivors are found with the help of Earth's military, in deeper and more contaminated areas, but they will not be rescued without losses...
Those damn weeping bats are hell-bent on hunting the USIF to extinction.

I've been on a bit of a post-apocalyptic kick -- in a different way than I already have been. I picked up Metro: Last Light recently, and I've been having dreams where the universe of Metro and that of Fallout have been colliding. It's been making for some very interesting ideas. What started as a scenebuild for an underground silo of some sort, breached and filled with dirt and debris, turned into a much more intense scene than I originally planned... and I'm totally cool with that.
