I really like these pictures, I find it very interesting that you only gender-bent these two. I know that you've said that all of the other characters are the same gender, but does that include Arnie? Do any other people have crushes on Hugo and Alice? Does Big Bob treat Hugo better than he treats Helga? I have so many questions about this universe you've created that can only be answered by you making more pictures that involve your gender-bent characters. *hint hint* What do you think of NintendoGal55/UchihaPrincess16's story about this universe? I like it, but I kind of wish it was about them in elementary school because there are some situations which I would like to see how they might change if these two switched genders.

I would say that Arnie would stay male. I'm not GB Lila and I would say that Arnie's creation came into play to mess with the Helga->Arnold->Lila dynamic even further. So GB Arnie wouldn't quite make sense and I'd feel obligated to do the same to Lila, which I don't want to do.
I've not explored the various relationships in this universe, but I'd definitely say Hugo is fairly popular with the girls and that probably Stinky has a tiny crush on Alice, because she seems like his type.
I don't know if I'd say Bob likes Hugo better, but he's much more aware of Hugo. Hugo doesn't get away with as much as Helga does, because he's the boy and Bob's pride and joy and so there's a lot more pressure to follow in his father's footsteps.
Haha, I haven't done much genderbent stuff as of late, but maybe I can do something since I know you're interested. We'll see.
I've sadly only read the very first chapter of Nintendo's fic because I suck and don't keep up with stuff, but I do remember liking it a lot. If I write/draw more in this universe it'll probably be with them all at age nine, because I like the idea of contrasting it against the original series.

I'm a major 'Fail' when it comes to painting with Photoshop, btw. Any suggestions? Especially when it comes to translating pencil line art into comp line art without the jaggies? (I hate the jaggies...)

Hmmm. Usually I scan in my pencils and then ink things in photoshop itself, using my tablet.
I've never really tried to get pencil to look like computer lines, so I'm not sure. Do you use layers instead of trying to color overtop?

^that's one of the last pictures from when I would ink on top of the actual drawing and then scan it in. I've been digitally inking since then.

I usually use layers, but my habit is to ink before scanning it in. Maybe there's my problem. Hmm...the only thing I can find that might be difficult with me doing that, is that my hand with the tablet isn't very steady. The only way I would get the lines I wanted would be to use the pen tool, and that puts out good results but takes freaking forever.
Hmm. Something to think about.

Absolutely brilliant. =^__^= I like that you settled on Alice for Arnold's name. It's really sweet and fits his/her personality. I kinda like this genderbender version of them--it's more likely that Alice would reciprocate Hugo's feelings without as much denseness involved. XD They're freaking adorable.

Well Alice, as a female, isn't nearly as thick as her male counterpart. Also, Hugo isn't exactly hiding how he thinks of her.

Looks like Alice has become a little more comfortable with Hugo, and he is a little more true to his self than in the previous pic. I love it when Helga's loving and compassionate side shines through all her toughness, it has always made her a little more tougher for me to hate. Ah, Helgs, you're such a fantastic enigma...

I love Helga's sweetness too. Hugo is maybe even more sweet because his feelings are out in the open, though I don't think even Alice really knows how deeply he cares.
I love Helga's complexity, it's what makes her such a wonderful character.
