I barely noticed it this year-- stayed in watching episodes of The Wire... How bout you?

Shared a table with my youngest in the artists' alley of Anime Expo 2009 at the convention center in downtown LA.

How'd it go, Kate? Is it slated for your best memories of Independence Days past?

It went very well; especially considering the fact that I do not draw, or paint, in the anime style. I sold enough to break even, and my daughter made a profit. A young lady I've only known for a couple of years on line had a table across the aisle from us. We got to chat with some long time friends, and make new ones. On the 4th, itself, we got home before the neighbors began setting off their fireworks. The only thing I missed was some music by John Philip Sousa and the 1812 Overture with fireworks and field artillery. It may not have been the absolute "best ever", but, it was a good one.

Sounds memorable, anyway. I remember the afterscent of sulphur outside once I'd finished with that night's installments of The Wire-- not exactly an Independence Day for the record books.

Thanks Eric-- I'm more and more in the mood for this sort of thing-- basically comic art done with paints, you know?

That's great, both in conception & execution. I've not tried gouache before, and now I'm tempted to try
I had to swerve to avoid hitting a turtle, recently. Why would a turtle be crossing the road (unless it had a deathwish)?

Kind of thing that would stay with you forever, too-- I had a social obligation some 15 years ago that involved having to go up to Blackhawk to gamble with a couple in the casinos up there-- I'm allergic to gambling-- and the driver, 2 blocks into the ride up, tried to outmaneuver a squirrel in the road, which turned out how you figure it might, and the omen of doom that descended immediately was as pertinent as it was accurate...
Thanks man!
