In general, the theme I look for in all the art that's come up on the previous "issues" of +DevBoi has had some form of sensuality in them... something that ties back to the classic "pinup" style of art from way back (yes, I am a afficiando of pinups!).

As you'll see in the previous covers, I'm not adverse to using nudes, but I try not to use overly-explicit poses/positions.

Tell me a bit of what you'd do for a cover shot for the mag?

I actually already found the pose I want to use, it's actually from a book of hula art I have of an old lamp from the 1950's. Dancer costume, no nudity, but classic and tasteful. It's one of those ironic things that I love old pin-up art, perhaps because of the whimsy and fluidity with which they are able to capture the human body, but my big influences are Vargas and Petty, so I like to keep the backgrounds down to a few lines if anything at all. Hope that helps

Ahh, a fellow Vargas fan! There's an italian place here in Tampa, where they have several Vargas' pinups in the men's bathroom... I love his style and agree with you totally on how the grand masters were able to capture the sheer beauty of the body. ^_^

The main thing I stress for the cover art is that there needs to be enough "space" around the figure to allow for the "titles" and masthead that goes on the cover. I do all of my cover design work in Photoshop, because it's the most versitle (and it's what I was trained on in college).

I should state that using your cover work will most likely have you become the featured artist for that issue.

Hope to hear/see more about the WIP. Keep me posted! I'm going through the planning out stages for the magazine as we speak. ^_^
