Yep, it's one of the biggest historic events. Britain's ultimate shame and Imperial Japan's greatest victory.

I assume it became independent after America defeated Japan at the end of the war, correct?

Non-commissioned Officers are less "glamourious" looking at the officers swords. Of course the Japanese generals have got different swords, I have seen photos where some of the junior officers and staff officers carry western styled swords in their ceremonial dark blue uniforms. And when seen in their combat khaki uniforms, they wear their katanas.

Woo woo woo woo, I have just known now of each swords that used by Japanese army are different... But it's different in performance and power too?
(I also knew that sword brought by General Kuribayasi in Iwo-Jima campaign was looked like French sword).

Not really, you had to realise that the swords issued to Officers and Non-commissioned officers aren't very well made.. they were mostly factory made.

It really depends in the situation...
The Gilbert and Marshall Islands campaign? I suppose the Japanese officers had no choice but to do it..

Even they did suicidal attack with grenade to destroy US tanks, but of course it's useless.
But what do you think if a real Jap samurai was still alive in WWII?

Yep.. very sad indeed.
Well many samurai individuals had different ideals of course. Like if you're talking about daimyos like Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin. They would have thought about WWII differently, Hideyoshi who was a retainer under Oda Nobunaga embarked on a campaign to want to conquer Ming China(a vision which Nobunaga had) by marching through Korea but eventually having to attack Korea in the 16th century which he failed twice. He was also infamous for killing 26 Christians by crucifying them. Then again of course Tokugawa Ieyasu though himself is marked with war too but had more diplomatic and peaceful relations. As you can see they all had different ideals.
