I think Goku would lose initially. But remember that Goku, as with any saiyan, actually gets stronger by a long shot after each fight.
Eventually Goku would overpower Superman in the long run.
And let's not speak of Goku from GT, everyone in GT is ridiculously overpowered. Or the alternate universe where Goku is a god (from the last two movies)
Or worse: SSJ4 GOD GOGETA. Shit that would escalate immediately.
There's no deadlier combo than GT + God Universe.
But then again, counting alternate stories or points in time, there's that golden Superman who's essentially like Dr. Manhattan...

What, so they can prove something? I'd see them sparring, and since Supes USUALLY holds back in nearly every regular moment, it would be a fairly even battle. It wouldn't be to the death and it shouldn't be out of spite or hate for one another. Like I said, they should be friends...

Superman is physically stronger and can fly faster but Goku's true strength is in Ki energy, not pure muscle and his Instant Transmission can take him anywhere in the universe in less than a second making him technically faster than Superman

I once read a fic where both Goku and Superman arrived on Earth at the same time and were both raised by the Kents, making them brothers.
