Description
An hour after Admiral T'Var leaves the infirmary, the 'nameless' patient opens her eyes finding herself in unfamiliar surroundings with a strange woman standing over her scanning her with a tricorder. My OCs by www.deviantart.com/dazinbane .Mirror Ella awakens from what she feels was a 'good night's sleep' and instantly rises up on her elbows, slowly turning on her side to face the woman standing next to her bed. That woman notices Ella is awake and stops her scans. Smiling warmly, her blue eyes soften as she speaks.
"Well, hello! How are you feeling?" The woman asks, the tone of her voice is genuinely warm and friendly. "I'm Doctor Resnik, do you understand me?"
Mirror Ella instantly understands Standard Terran, the lingua franca of the Rebellion coming from this woman's mouth. Ella focuses on the woman's uniform and the Starfleet comm badge on her chest. Ella's sharp hearing picks up the faint sound of breathing coming from behind her and she casts a quick glance over her shoulder. Behind her she sees an armed man, most likely a security officer, standing just out of reach. She would have to turn then leap upon him, fully extending her body to reach him before he can draw the phaser on his hip. But that would leave her rear exposed and vulnerable to attack from this doctor.
Mirror Ella considers grabbing the doctor by her throat and using her as a hostage, a human shield, in order to force her way out. But there's just one thing more to consider, without the interdimentional transport device, there is no going home. Ella quickly decides to cooperate, to a certain extent, for the time being.
"Yes, I understand you Dr. Resnik." Ella answers calmly. "And I actually feel pretty good, but a little sore here and there."
The doctor smiles widely at Ella as her demeanor relaxes. Dr. Resnik is brimming over with many questions to ask this remarkable woman.
"What's your name?" Resnik asks carefully.
"My name is T'Lar but my friends call me Ella." Ella responds. She carefully observes the doctor's body language and expressions, looking for any tell tale signs of deception or treachery. But the doctor actually seems to genuinely care about her. The doctor is apparently interested in her welfare. Ella notices the doctor's look of surprise as she tells her her name.
"Ella? Wow! We have an Ella here, and she looks just like you!" Dr. Resnik says. "Where do you come from Ella? You are a remarkable young woman! Your recuperative ability is off the charts!"
Unable to restrain her excitement, Dr. Resnik presses on hoping to get some answers to the many medical mysteries about this woman.
"As you can tell, I'm excited to get to know more about you, medically! I sincerely hope that you will answer my questions." Resnik says.
Ella smiles slightly. Obviously amused by the doctor's eagerness to know more about her. She remembers the orders she recieved from her grandmother, not to interact too much with the people of this universe, and if captured, divulge nothing.
"Well doctor, obviously I am not from around here..." Ella says carefully. "But can you tell me, where 'here' is?
Dr. Resnik crosses her arms and laughs a little at Ella's witty, half answer. Obviously this woman is intelligent and sharp. The doctor will have to be careful with her.
"You are in the main infirmary at the Delta Aquilae Shipyards." Resnik answers warily. Not willing to volunteer any more information at first.
Mirror Ella's eyes narrow slightly as she notices a change in the doctor's demeanor. She was still excited but a little wary now, suspicious. Ella has to be a little more forthcoming and careful not to raise the doctor's suspicions any further.
"I see.." Ella says. "Well, to answer your question, I was born on Earth, I'm originally from New York City. As you can see I'm from mixed heritage. My mother was human and my father, Vulcan. But you can obviously tell that part by your scans. What else would you like to know, doctor?"
Dr. Resnik's eyes widen slightly in surprise at Ella's words. Her biography is exactly like that of Ella the singer, Admiral T'Var's granddaughter. But the doctor chooses not to divulge that information right now.
"I can tell that you're a measured and intelligent woman, Ella, so I won't interrogate you. I'm a doctor, not a policeman." Resnik says reassuringly. "I only want to know about you medically."
Ella nods her head slightly, convinced of the doctor's sincerity.
"Okay doctor, ask away!" Ella says, sounding more relaxed.
Resnik's smile reappears along with new a twinkle in her eyes. Obviously she feels more comfortable asking questions.
"Ella, to be honest with you we didn't know what to expect or think when the Romulans brought you here from the OLEN. You were unconscious and the exact double for a woman named Ella who was also on the OLEN."
Ella's eyes widen slightly at the doctor's story so far.
"Please doctor, tell me more, and please feel free to ask me anything. I promise to tell you all that I can." Mirror Ella says softly.
Dr. Resnik nods and continues to recount all that's happened since Ella arrived.
"The Romulans were as confused about you as we are but they didn't have time to make any inquiries, they had to proceed to the battle front. Ella and her companions said that you saved them from certain death by fighting and killing several Jem'Hadar soldiers." Resnik recounts.
"Yes, I remember fighting the Jem'Hadar as you call them, and they landed more than a few very hard blows on me." Mirror Ella recounts with a feigned wince. "I had guessed what they were probably going to do to the passengers and crew so I had to stop them. Too many times, where I come from, assholes like them getaway with butchering the helpless.."
"Those blows had to have hurt like the devil!" Dr. Resnik said as she rubs her own chin. "The injuries you sustained were serious. But your body had already started to heal itself by the time the Romulans got you here."
Mirror Ella shakes her head slightly in an attempt to remember more of what happened. The very memory of the fighting and the pain she experienced are fading away fast.
"I barely remember, doctor..." Ella says. "My last conscious memory is my body laying on the cold deck plates and my head in the lap of a woman who looks like me! I thought I was dreaming when I saw her... she comforted me as I lost consciousness. I thought she was an angel... After that, I don't remember anything until I woke up and saw your smiling face doctor."
Dr. Resnik nods her head again as she listens to Mirror Ella's tale. The doctor pays close attention to Ella's demeanor and did not see any of the outward signs of deception, but she knows that wouldn't be easy to see in a Vulcan/Human hybrid.
"That was a brave thing you did, Ella.." Resnik says softly. "You saved the lives of twenty-eight people. The Romulans brought all of you here, they treated some of your wounds but you didn't regain consciousness. It seems that your recuperative ability went into action immediately, maybe that's why you slept so long. Would you like something to eat?"
Mirror Ella nods her head slightly and smiles. She feels her stomach rumble from hunger. She hasn't eaten in over twenty four hours.
The doctor nods in return and motions to the security guard to go over to the nearby replicator and order food for Ella. When he walks away Resnik speaks to Mirror Ella in lower tones.
"I have to alert the Admiral that you're awake now.." The doctor says. "She'll want to talk to you, probably along with the intelligence officer so be prepared. Now, is there anything else I can do for you before they arrive?"
Mirror Ella stretches out and lays back down on the bio bed. Her mind immediately goes to the one thing she is very curious about.
"Well doctor, earlier you said that my 'angel' is real and wasn't a figment of my imagination. Her name is Ella too.." Mirror Ella whispers. "I'd really like to meet her..."
Whoever She Is.. She's Incredible!
