LOL. If the Intuos is the P.Diddy of tablets, then what's the Snoop?

The Snoop tablet is made entirely of hemp, runs on hamster wheel, and will quit on you for a bit before starting right back up again xD

A quick note:

The ones in number one : CTE/MTE 450 last a LOT longer. Over time, the wires/usb lines wear down. But! You can change these with time if it's USB attachable on both sides like the ones in the first example and have a much more prolonged experience. Meanwhile the ones in #2 "Other Bamboos" wear down much quicker because they're only attachable one way--into the computer. We had the ones in example 2 for about a year and a half. The sensitivity didn't really seem different, but because it wasn't the type that had the USB connect on both ends like the type in number 1 (which I also have) it became unusable the minute something happened to the wires. So take from my lesson, buy the ones in #2 ONLY if you can't find the ones in the first example CTE/MTE 450 or if it's just out your budget. Usually, they don't cost much different. The major difference is that the first one has the potential for a much longer life span.

my father is willing to get me a Cintiq because i have been eyeing it for a few years, should start off that far? now it seems overwhelming >.<

well I won't say refuse such an AWESOME present!!!!! The Cintiq is gorgeous and incredible, just very expensive and I haven't found a time where even as an art major in college that I needed the Cintiq. I adore my Intuos5 (its a medium), but if you don't think you could draw on the pad and have the image transfer to your screen correctly (because that was hard for me at first), go Cintiq. The Cintiq lets you draw on the screen and seems a lot less intimidating than the normal tablets. ^_^

You should really consider installing Windows or Linux on a partition of your Mac, then. SAI is one of my good friends as of late. Photoshop CS5.1 is about six hundred dollars, but it's worth the money. All those brushes are tasty work.

Remember English grammar is important in tutorials. People (especially in American culture, where grammar and whiteness make the winners...) are more likely to pay attention for the whole thing when you're easy to read. Proofread and rewrite tutorials with attention to detail, and try to touch down on as many aspects of the subject as possible.

My editor is getting me a Cintiq, so I would say...

The better the tablet you can afford, the more likely you are to climb, though. Location also matters. Since your tutes are in basic/L1-2 English, I'd assume nobody here would need one.

especially in American culture, where grammar and whiteness make the winners...

I'm not sure by what you mean by "whiteness", but if you meant what I think you did, I laughed because it's SO true. Also, I noticed you used the term "L1/2 English"- did you ever take a linguistic anthropology class?

FS-XXVII In reply to yeahgirl11 [2012-04-06 14:44:06 +0000 UTC]

No, I taught myself English with a cheap paperback book..

And whiteness = how congruent you are with something called "white culture." If you don't know what it is, chances are you're part of it...

yeahgirl11 In reply to FS-XXVII [2012-04-07 02:52:34 +0000 UTC]

That's odd- the term L1/L2 isn't used in regular language studies- that's specifically a linguistic term.

Yeah, that's what I thought you meant.

FS-XXVII In reply to yeahgirl11 [2012-04-07 03:58:55 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps it was simply misused, though. It was a pretty cheap book.

Well hell, for a pretty cheap book, that's actually pretty impressive they used some linguistic terms. If you don't mind me asking, what was the book called?

I don't want to risk damaging my Mac for one little program.
I could be spending that time actually doing artwork. It's just
not worth the struggle to me. Besides, I love my CS5.

And I don't think grammar is that important...I'm not
going to sit and make sure I punctuated correctly if
people are enjoying the tutorials as-is. I'm not making
these to look professional or get good marks on anything,
I just want people to know what I never did when I started.

No offense, but I think it's a little rude to put artists down
by saying you need the best to be the best. A Cintiq or Wacom
won't make you a great artist or help you climb to the top, that
takes talent, practice, and hard work in any medium.

FS-XXVII In reply to StarberryStudios [2012-04-06 00:43:33 +0000 UTC]

I never directly said that.
Windows on a separate partition also doesn't hurt your mac, it's designed for that. It would expand your compatibility and make it much more usable. I don't intend to be rude, I do intend to be constructive within the limits of what I know how to say. Your tutorials are good, I only wanted to give advice. It's part of being in an art community, give/take.

Time constraints installing windows on a standard macbook in decent condition is ~0.5-2.1 hours, and it isn't a single program you'd be compatible with. In fact, choosing which one to boot to is simple as well.

StarberryStudios In reply to FS-XXVII [2012-04-06 01:49:53 +0000 UTC]

I agree and thank you for the advice...I just am no good with installing multiple OP Systems on my computer, than and I don't think I have the money for it.

FS-XXVII In reply to StarberryStudios [2012-04-06 01:52:25 +0000 UTC]

Money is definitely an issue of that. I run Linux, which is free, but very complicated. I was told the macbook and iOS computers offer which OS to boot to, but I don't know experience of it.

StarberryStudios In reply to FS-XXVII [2012-04-06 01:56:26 +0000 UTC]

do you think linux is worth the time to upload?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FS-XXVII In reply to StarberryStudios [2012-04-06 02:03:55 +0000 UTC]

I mean very complicated. Choosing which version and getting community-supported apps, knowing the command line (never rm -rf ~) and the like is hard. I'd recommend Windows first, and if you ever take the interest, Linux is usually for programmers. It doesn't have quite as many internal "oopsies" as Windows, but it takes a steady hand and experience.
