Every hair in place, Rangirae swooshed across the town.He had dinner parties to attend, high societies to charm-- and it would all start with a heavenly peach banquet held by the gods themselves.
Comission for =morowhitewolf . She's honestly such an amazing, patient person-- it was a pleasure to draw Rangirae. His horns are so pretty. ;___; This drawing is also super special because it's the first one I finished with my new tablet! It's an Intuous3 9x12, and really enormous. The background was done with my old graphire 4x5. xDD

Gosh, feathers..! I'm never sure how to do them without making the whole lot look like bits of dripping candle wax. I don't have the heart to draw the inner vanes with the detail they should have. I'm glad you liked how these ones turned out.

I can't explain in words how beautiful this is, I love the clear crisp line work. The glowing colors give off a sort of metallic sense and this almost comes across as dreamlike. Visually stunning work. ^^

the only thing I don't like si the shading around the nose. I think the drawing would look much more elegant if that part was just blank =X

I can't shade noses! xDD I was using a few other artists for noses references, but in the end, I kind of just left it. I might try leaving it flatter on another picture. I need to find something that works. D: I think part of the problem stems from me not being able to draw noses very well.

I actually disagree with Soul's critique, I think that if you just added a bit more middle tones and highlights to the bridge of Rangirae's nose (the area between his eyes, in particular) it would make the shading on the side less awkward.
Right now it just looks like the shading is too broad on the right (his right) side for such a small nose.

I think it'd be just as effective if it was just... flat-ish. It'd make the face look clearner/sleeker. My suggestion is: its anime, treat it like anime lol. I try and mix shading with what I'd see in realism, too. but ya, generally the middle of the face in anime is a single tone, and not so much centered on relying on shades to make things more believable.
but ya... I think we share this problem.. lol I'm such a hypocrite =X

But I like realistic noses..! Hnnnnn D: If there is a happy middle ground, I'll eventually stumble on it one day. Can't hurt to try a different approach though, all the noses I turn out look kind of the same-- awkward. Thanks for the crit!

FFFFFFFFFFF there is so much detail in this I've just been staring at it for a while now, thinking about all the things to say.
The pose is so great. I really like the momentum that is gathered through that pose and the fwooshy-ness of the hair, and the outstretched wings. So very cool!
lkjasdfs you got your new tablet too! How is it? My Intuos4x6 is pretty amazing itself. I need to post something I've drawn with it soon ;___; This is a great first picture to post for it : )
Your color choice is also top notch, I must say. While you do include bright highlights in areas, it's definitely not blinding or uber shiny like I see in a lot of anime art these days. You understand color, as far as I'm concerned.
I also really like the background. In a way it looks a bit more grainy than (Oh snap my computer just shut off but my comment still remained when I rebooted! Sweet) the foreground, but it's a super neat effect.

This new one is huge! I mean, I knew it was 9x12, but it still felt enormous. I'm glad I use keyboard shortcuts, because I have to move my arm alot more-- but for drawing and colouring, it's excellent. The lines are so smooth and the pen sensitivity is incredible. No more lagging or making octagons instead of circles. <3
yesss, you must post some crazy vooooi! (this word is so canon in English) soon. xD I will stalk you in the near future and we will break in our new tablets on some form of pchat. :] There will be hot D18 and Squalo in an apron on the horizon.

Your picture blows mine out of the water instantly XD I'm in awe of this picture. I love the details and the colors are absolutely stunning. But his face and wings is what catched my eye. You captured him perfectly
The background went very well with the picture, and I love how you added a staff to him, carrying fruit. Even that went unoticed in the amount of details.
<3 I envy the way you draw and color, and don't give that talent up. Keep up the amazing and beautiful artwork
