Description
After a hard day's work, Yoi goes home to tuck into a nice meal. With such an enormous basket of fish, there might be a ladyfriend or company coming over. Who knows, maybe Yoi is just ravenously hungry. Maintaining the gloss on his claws and sweeping wings must require extra nutrition.Note: The dragon-thing on the roof is supposed to be a little stone silouette of Yoi's noodly dragonform. The little lumps next to it are supposed to be animals. I got the idea from a custom for some places in China (eg. Forbidden City) to place them on the edges of a roof. Number and type of animals can denote the status of the building and its occupants, and some had superstitious purposes as well (eg. an animal to ward off the very wooden kitchens from being incinerated).
Kiriban for =Shinerai , thanks for answering all my pestering questions and even providing really sweet references! I've never used so much pink for a character and background before, and I had fun with it. I'm sorry about the character and anomatical issues too! D:

I.. honestly have no idea where people get the patience to do stuff like this. THERE IS SO MUCH DETAIL IN EVERY AREA OF THIS PICTURE. It just.. blows my mind.
The background had a lot to look at while not taking away from the character which in itself has so many things to stare at and go *A*

Ooh, this is gorgeous. I love your art - I've been looking through a bit of it but hadn't commented yet, so here goes. I really like how the characters seem to stand out from the image, but only subtly, with the way you do a sort of dark line around them, and I really like the dark, rich colours. The bright highlights contrast really well with the colours as a result. And this character looks great! Overall, I love it!

Thank you~! I think part of the reason the characters tend to meld quite a bit into the background is because I don't use flat colours in some pieces. And then I have a habit of highlighting everything. xD

I think they kind of... stand out, but not too much. I have no idea how to explain what I'm on about. XD I like the black lineart. A lot of people don't use black lines so it melds their characters into the background but I've always stuck with black lineart because I like the effect, so that's what I mean. ^^ Hehe. It is a little talked about facet. I was referring to the blending of human and dragon forms seen in some of the older legends. the lines between "human" and "dragon" seem to intersect and mingle in ways that make the two very hard to distinguish. This is captured, I feel, very well in this artwork.
Examples of these dragons would include the story of Jilocasin and the Cuelebre in Europe, and just about anything that concerns the Dragon Kings of the Orient.
